Perky-Pet® Adjustable Perch Glass Hummingbird Feeder

Oh my gosh! I haven't worked this hard to clean any hummingbird feeder before. I tried to unscrew the base to clean it well even using a small screw driver. No luck. I ended up using dish soap and filled it up and rinsed it for quite some time till the water ran clean. I had already worked for 15 minutes to get the flower ports screwed back in. I thought they would just pop in like my last feeder. Then I worried that they might come loose when the birds are feeding. So I screwed them in as much as I could. I was exhausted when it was all done. My last Perky Pet feeder was so easy to clean. I agree with others that the opening on the bottle is impossible to clean without buying new brushes. I also have been trying to find replacement ports for when these get moldy. No luck at all. Going to call customer service to explain all these problems with it.

I like the overall design and ease to clean the inside of the base but...the narrow opening of the bottle and angle of the glass makes it almost impossible to clean. Rinsing alone just doesn't cut it.

As stated by other customers, very very disappointed that the base of this hummer feeder does not come apart to clean. I really thing this is a QC, design flaw, BIG MISTAKE. Who tested this feeder? Anyone who feeds hummers knows that the base MUST come apart in order to clean the black mold that inevitably grows on hummer feeders. Can't get away from it. Never did I think to "test drive" the base to see if it comes apart on a feeder from Perky Pet. Assumed, unfortunately, that Perky Pet would automatically know to have the base be able to come apart for cleaning purposes. I would not recommend this feeder. I think it should be pulled from the market. Poor, poor design.

Was forced replace my feeders after a midnight attack by raccoons!! So, I got two new ones - love the size and retractable post option - and one for a gift.

Started leaking at the seem after a few months. Complete garbage.

The hummers love this feeder (that's the most important thing, right?), but I am concerned about taking the base apart to clean it. So far, I haven't found a way to clean it, other than letting it soak in hot soapy water, which isn't ideal. The adjustable perch thing is cute, but not necessary - even the tiniest Rubys manage just fine.

Terrible design. Looked good in the store. Got them home and could not get the bottom apart for thorough cleaning. After going on the website I found that the base does not come apart. What idiot thought that up and who approved it??? Will return them to the store tomorrow

I bought this from a lady that decided it was to big for her. There wasn't any package or instructions. After much research, I wasn't able to determine if it should spit apart for cleanin. I was finally able to unscrew the 2 halves for cleaning. Wish that was explained better. Very Happy with this feeder now.

I have 3 of these, new ones... I don't remember where I bought them or I would take them back . I just took the tags off and tried to wash them for first use. HOWEVER the 2 piece plastic base parts are stuck together on all 3 and I can't get them unscrewed. My husband can't get them unscrewed. Two different sales guys at 2 different stores that carry Perky Pets products couldn't get them to unscrew either. I looked at 6 feeders like this at one store and the 12 feeders at another store and all of those 2 piece bases were also stuck together. CRAZY! cannot use these beautiful feeders unless I can unscrew the base to clean both sections. Otherwise I can't get at the black mold that happens with these feeders. How do I get the 2 piece plastic bases unscrewed? Help,!

Beautiful Feeder - impossible to clean properly. Nectar leaked into the base through the perch holes that are supposed to be sealed (I guess??) which led me to taking both of my feeders completely apart by removing the screws. Trying to get the perch assembly aligned again properly to put back together after cleaning appears to be impossible. I even took a picture before i completely disassembled in hope that it would help but to no avail. I purchased these for my mother and was trying to do her a favor in cleaning them. Now the retractable perch option seems completely ridiculous since it's not easily cleaned at all and doesn't move easily (even before i took it apart). Even the threads are not easily unscrewed for the parts that are supposed to come apart easily (without removing screws). I don't recommend this style feeder at all.
