Found in most areas of North America, the American Robin is the most widespread wild bird on the continent. Although it prefers to live in forests, the robin has adapted very well to suburban living, too.
The male and female robin look very much alike, however the female robin is usually paler than the male.

Nesting Habits of the American Robin
In the summertime, the American Robin builds a nest of grass, weeds, and mud.
After breeding, the female robin will stay on her nest and will only go to join the roosts after the eggs have hatched and the young have departed the nest to join the roost.
The female robin is capable of producing three broods per year, although not all young robins survive.
