DARK-EYED JUNCOBIRD LIBRARY »
Nesting Habits of the Dark-Eyed Junco
In forested areas, the Dark-Eyed Juncos build a cup-shaped nest constructed of leaves, moss and small roots. The interior is lined with soft materials such as moss or grass.
Inside the nest, the female will lay 3-5 bluish white, speckled eggs. She will incubate the eggs for 12-13 days, and the young Dark-Eyed Juncos will leave the nest in 9-12 days after hatching to embark on their own lives.
