appréciation By tangara

The cardinals immediately used it much to my delight. The biggest birds have some difficulties in obtaining a simple seed. I appreciated  the fast delivery. P.s. I would like to have the information in French if it was possible, Thank you.

Just what I needed By Paul

Was looking for something that the birds couldn't eat all the food in one day. This did the trick.

Didn\'t stop them By Disappointed2
I bought this feeder through Amazon last fall. It took a few months, but those muscular acrobats finally muscled their way between the upper rim and the wire mesh body. Forcing themselves into the interior of the feeder, they emptied it within an afternoon. No more no no's for me, it's in the recycling bin.

We appreciate the feedback and apologize for this experience.

This feeder is very durable and is made of all metal and can stand up to squirrels damage. To keep squirrels away from the feeder we recommend placing the feeder at least 10 feet away from the nearest squirrel launching site, such as a tree or fence and at least 5 feet off the ground. Squirrels can jump 8 feet horizontally and 4 feet vertically.

Our Consumer Relations Team can be reached directly at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973). Please feel free to contact us for further assistance.

attractive, cardinal friendly By Will
purchased the cardinal feeder about a month ago. Filled it with black oil sunflower seeds. Initially hung it from the side porch. Birds including cardinals loved it, but the squirrels found a way to climb the post, wrap themselves around the feeder, and enjoy the seeds. But in the never-ending battle of man over squirrel, purchased Perky's universal pole. Hung the cardinal feeder, on that and squirrels are mostly deterred and the birds still feast. Added a squirrel baffle last week, and it appears for the time, squirrels are content to eat from the ground.

Nice feeder, easy to fill and hang.

Excellent Quality Feeder......... By
This is the first time I've purchased a No/No feeder. I love how it collapses for storage, but more impressive is the quality of this feeder. It's heavyweight to begin without adding seed. You'll need a substantial hanger or pole to hang it when filled. It's a little larger than I expected. Although it says "Sunflower" feeder, I filled it with Safflower seeds and it works just fine. I cant believe how many birds this has attracted over my old non mesh feeder. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Q.Will this feeder hold safflower seed?

This feeder is designed to carry black oil sunflower seed, safflower mix, and peanut pieces

Q.The hanging loop on our NO/NO red feeder broke. I've rigged it up with a piece of wire coat hanger, but it doesn't work as well. Can I order just the hanging loop?

Wild Bird Feeders - Expert Tips

Hanging Your Feeder

  • Ideally a sheltered southeastern exposure location is best for hanging bird feeders since birds like to feed in the sun and out of the wind. Birds also prefer not to have any obstructions over their feeding area so they can see any predators. more»

  • Bird Baths - A clean and reliable water source is an excellent way to attract birds to your yard, especially those birds that do not necessarily eat seed or nectar. All birds will seek out a water supply, not only for drinking but also for keep themselves clean and healthy.
  • Bird Houses - These are a good way to attract those species of birds that nest in holes. These structures should be made of an untreated wood (pine, cedar, etc.) and should have ventilation and drainage holes. It should be durable, and easy to check and clean. more»

Feeder Care

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What are the most popular bird seeds to use?

A: Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed and best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch. This seed is accepted by the greatest variety of birds.

Mixed Seed is also popular. It is best to buy the mixes that contain white proso millet, a tiny cream colored seed with a shiny shell. Mixes containing finely cracked corn and black oil sunflower are also preferred by a large number of birds.

Thistle Seed is imported from Africa and Asia. Thistle won't germinate, however, it has a tendency to become moldy due to lack of air circulation. If you notice mold on the seed, it must be removed from the feeder and the feeder must be cleaned thoroughly.

Q: How do I clean my bird feeders?

A: No/No feeders can be dish washed or hand washed. Before filling your feeders with fresh seed, it is recommended that the following precautions are taken:

Dish washed

  1. Remove all old seed.
  2. Place the feeder on top rack of the dish washer.
  3. Allow the feeder to dry completely before refilling.

Hand washed

  1. Remove all old seed.
  2. Soak feeder in water.
  3. Gently cleanse feeder and allow to air dry.

After the feeder is clean and dry follow these steps

  1. Rake and remove accumulated hulls and droppings from underneath the feeders.
  2. Spread mulch (bark or wood) under the feeder, replace mulch when soiled.
  3. Thoroughly wash hands after handling and cleaning feeders.

Q: What is the importance of providing water for wild birds?

A: Wild birds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need seed. Birds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also for bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide birds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for birds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy. By adding a water source, you also can attract a larger variety of birds to your yard. You may even attract more colorful birds that don't eat seed, but are in need of water!
