We bought 10 (ten) of these; note how affordable they are! 9 out of 10 worked perfectly, right away. The FIRST one that we tried, didn't work! Made us panic, thinking that they were all bad! ... Then later on, I figured out that there was a tiny little barely-visible crack in the glass at the end of a glass thread up top, where it thread-mates to the plastic top. I just dropped a few drops of clear oil-based paint into the upside-down glass bottle, let it cure and air out VERY thoroughly, and that sealed the tiny leak. It is now fixed. ... The smaller fluid-carrying capability is not an issue at all. The birds can NOT drink that much in one season! Let alone in a few weeks... You should be putting in fresh sugar water every 2 weeks max, I think, or, whenever the fluid gets cloudy...
