Feeder works fine for thistle but simply does not work for larger seeds, including any song bird mixture. Since the adjustable pivot item opens upward and cannot be “locked” in place it creates a extremely large opening allowing any seed above the bottom perched to just drain out. If the pivot opened from the top it would create a small dish that would limit the amount of seed that would FALL out and allow the birds to access the seed from the dish. That way it would work well for any thing from thistle to sunflower seeds. Many small birds (finches, nuthatches, chickadees and more) love sunflower seeds.
plastic bail hanger keeps breaking off where it enters tube. 90 degree corner breaks off rendering feeder useless, also when bail breaks, feeder drops to ground, spilling all the seeds out. I have gone thru 4 of these in last few months, same problem every time.

I have 2 of these which I bought at Wal-Mart.. The cap fell out on one of the ports, but not a problem they snap back in.. I have all kinds of birds, most of the smaller ones will actually use the feeder and the bigger birds eat whatever falls.. I'm very happy with mine.. Just remember you get what you pay for..
Bought this feeder to replace previously used sock type thistle feeders for the song birds in my area. The songbirds used to love using the socks but then the doves in the area suddenly started ripping open the socks and then congregating on the ground below. This feeder does not discourage the doves at all and most of the songbirds have no interest in it.
I apologize, this feeder is only meant for smaller birds and has no deterring functions for larger birds. This feeder is backed by our 30 day refund policy, please give us a call at 855-737-5973 for further assistance!

If possible I'd not award this product even 1 star. Terrible!

With only 1 fill the birds tore out 3 of the 6 baffles on my newly-purchased Perky Pet 2-in1 Tube Feeder, rendering the feeder completely useless. Was looking for an expensive feeder to direct resident grackles, red-winged blackbirds and starlings away from my main feeding station. Price was right. The product was not. This product diminishes severely the "integrity" of Perky Pet Products.
We're sorry to hear your feeder was damaged. This feeder was designed with smaller birds in mind. It is covered by our 1-year replacement policy. Please give us a call a 855-737-5973 with any questions, we're happy to help. - Kathryn

Flimsy, contributes to plastic pollution as will be discarded after one season.

The clear plastic part of this feeder disintegrated after one season. I hesitate to buy anything plastic but the sturdier plastic products last longer. I would not buy this product again, or any product like it. Unfortunately these light plastic cheaply made products litter the shelves of grocery stores, hardware stores and the Walmarts of this world.
We're sorry to hear that your feeder was damaged. Our feeders are designed to be weather-resistant and can often be recycled, depending upon recycling policies in your area. Please feel free to contact us at 855-737-5973 with any questions. - Kathryn

Works better than the $30 ones of similar design!

I bought this feeder at Walmart after I returned a much more expensive one of similar design. This one works better! I have house finches, lesser goldfinches, and white crowned sparrows all visiting the feeder all day long. The seeds are down to the bottom ports by the end of the day. For those of you who are having trouble with this feeder, I recommend using Pennington wild finch mix and opening the ports. The seeds will pour out if you are not careful. I use a red funnel and pour them over a large terra-cotta pot I have positioned just under the feeder. Also, if you push down the seeds with your finger tip in each feeder port, they will be less likely to fall out. Nevertheless, by the end of the day, there will be a lot of spilt seeds in the pot. Just simply scoop them out and throw them away or vacuum them out. If you leave them over night, the rodents will eat them. I do not want rats, so I clean up every day at dusk. Be patient with this product. It takes birds a few days to a couple weeks to find a new feeder, so don't get discouraged if they do not show up right after you hang it.
A fair, cheap feeder, and the birds like it. You need to make sure the movable parts are in the right position or the seed falls straight out. Worst issue is with squirrels - they nibble away at the plastic ports, trying to get the seed out, and ruin them. My tube is still good (even though it gaps a little and is held tight by duck tape), but some of the ports are savaged. It would be great if I could buy spare ports, though a new feeder is not expensive. But once the ports are nibbled again, I'll be left with another useless tube.
I gave this product a rating of 1 because of no choice to give it a zero. Drainage holes at bottom of feeder are too big and drain out thistle seeds at a ridiculous rate. Filled one the night before and by noon the next day it was over half emptied. I know it wasn't squirrels be because they can't get to it.

Bought this feeder yesterday at Walmart and put up with mixed seed in it. This morning a squirrel evidently climbed on it and the bail broke so it landed on the ground. Sides don't seem to be attached to each other either, maybe held together by the screw on cap. I guess you get what you pay for and this was a pretty cheap feeder.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. To prevent squirrels from accessing feeders and causing damage, we recommend hanging them at least 4 ft off the ground and 8 ft away from launching points such as trees and fences. For more tips, please contact us directly at 855-737-5973, we're happy to help!
