DRIPS, drips, drips a mess

Moved to the foothills, noticed the hummers flying around so purchased this at our local Ace. The birds enjoy it, BUT SO DO THE BEES. It leaks and drips constantly, so the bees and wasps (?) are all over it. The design, yes it's inexpensive, is terrible. Either the drinking holes are to big or the angles wrong so it coats itself in a sticky mess. I only fill it to below the waist. But turning it right side up after filling, results in nectar squirting out the the ports. What a mess ... so we bought the glass pineapple which I will negatively comment on next ...

When filling the feeder, we recommend filling it while the nectar reservoir is upright, avoiding overfilling, and firmly securing the base before carefully inverting the feeder. A small amount of nectar may escape from the feeding ports during this process as the feeder equalizes, but placing the feeder in a shaded area and away from direct sunlight can help reduce dripping and fermentation. Keeping the feeding ports and base clean and free of sticky nectar can also help discourage insects. Why can’t you make bee guards in red? Everyone knows yellow attracts bees and wasps. I like my feeder but will switch to one that can have red portal flowers instead of yellow. Insects scaring off my birds. Get with it, not rocket science.

Used these for 30 years but the new ones seem thinner plastic and base splits and cracks. They refuse to sell parts. Junk now. I'm so sorry to have to say this.

I used this feeder for 30 yrs. They changed the plastic screw on part and they crack. No replacement parts avail. to purchase

I have used this feeder for 30 yrs. They were great for years. The plastic that is the screw on piece to close the bottle used to be made of softer plastic. If a part would happen to break replacement parts could be ordered online. 3 or 4 yrs ago I bought all new feeders (I bought 8) The screw on parts ALL cracked. I checked with Perky-Pet, no parts available to replace broken parts. DO NOT BUY THIS FEEDER. It is now junk.

Not perfect but a good feeder

I have used this feeder for years. i have six in use at all times. Buy at Walmart for best price. Not always happy with performance but best value. Takes and performance issues...
--Size is perfect. Wouldn't want larger size as nectar would spoil.
--Bees remain present but Hummers work through it. Non issue.
--Occasionally I get some leakage were bottom feeder screws into glass vessel. I use a PVC water tape and it solves problem.
--Older feeders fail in two areas, 1...Top plastic loop breaks. 2...top plastic unit cracks making connection to glass vessel impossible.
I will continue to use and buy this feeder.

They leak leak leak!!!!! Worst hummingbird feeder we have ever owned...what a waste of money....we r going to try to figure out something to fix the slow leak. Normally I wouldn't say such horrible things about one of your products but this one is awful....so sorry but the honest truth!!!!!

I like the idea behind the design; easy to take apart and clean and keeps bees and ants out. But it leaks nectar around the flowers. The bottle seals well with the base; but the pool inside the flower leaks at the stem. I can take the bottle off, fill the base and watch it slow drip. I tried sealing it with teflon tape but to no avail. Not worth the hassle.

I bought two of these to defeat the bees that suddenly started swarming my other feeders. They almost work. You have to invert these to fill and then right them to hang. If you are not very careful some nectar will spill. Even rinsing the with a light spray will not clean the spill and bees will attack. Sometimes there are only a few but sometimes they mass on the "bee proof" ports and attack the hummers. See photo. This is not the bee resistant feeder you are looking for. Thank goodness the hummers know how to dance to avoid the stings while feeding!

This is a wonderful Hummingbird feeder. It is the only type that I use, and have used it for years. I saw that you do not sell replacement parts, but I would like to suggest that you consider doing so. The yellow bee guards are not easy to clean and break. I have had to replace to entire feeder multiple times because I needed bee guards. Perhaps your CEO or Controller will see an opportunity for increased revenue with replacement parts. Thank you.

Make sure all parts are tightly secured and the feeder is kept level. Leaks can occur if it’s tilted or overfilled.
