Love it! By moneypenny

This is the best bird feeder ever! No squirrels, fat doves or grackles have been able to access the seeds -- a problem I had with my two previous feeders. I am loving the steady rotation of beautiful songbirds on the five perches. I also really like that I can see when the seed is getting low and refill before it runs out.

Squirrel Be gone feeder By Deee
I bought this bird feeder several weeks ago, and I'll have to say I am very, very disappointed in it. I actually hate it. I wish I could send it back. But the squirrels have chewed the top feeder. I will say on the the positive side of the feeder the squirrels haven't learn yet how to hang on it yet!!! So on the feeder behave it has done that, but every other bird gets on it. The crackles, blue jays. so the hangers doesn't keep they off. It seem l from what it said the bigger birds wouldn't be able to get on it!! Wrong!!! My seed gets all eaten up by them!! Very frustrating!! So if you want to feed birds like blue jays, crackles, all the rest of the birds like that you don't want to see, then get this feeder... Sorry I wasted my money!!!!! Really, disappointed in a big way!!!.

The perches on this feeder are calibrated to keep squirrels off, but allow a wide variety of wild birds to enjoy the feeder, including some larger birds. We apologize for this experience. Love the weighted sensors By AuntZelli
Bought this recently and so far, so good - although my husband has had to unjam the perches twice. I have not yet seen a squirrel figure it out.

It is definitely squirrel proof. Even the birds don't visit it.

I waited a week or two and it works fine By Bruno 34
I did not have a squirrel problem. I have a starling problem and the birds can not land on the perches. The weight makes them slide off.

Seems to save seed. By perplexed
I bought this to keep the squirrels out of the sunflower seeds. Success! But it also seems to be hard for birds to feed or the squirrels were eating a lot more seed than I realized. We shall see with more use.

This is really nice to have. We used to have one similar with an electric motor that propelled the squirrels. The problem was that the batteries would run out and then the anti-squirrel feature did not work. This feeder allows us to attract quite a few diverse and interesting birds to our yard. It's a smarter design than the whirl away one.

I live in the woods and wage a constant battle with squirrels over the contents of my bird feeders.I quickly learned that I can't have any pretty wooden feeders or even any cheap plastic ones because the squirrels chew them to pieces. Most of my feeders are encircled by wire cages to keep them out, but it looks so unattractive. So I was excited to try out this squirrel-proof tube. It appears to be very well constructed, and it all breaks down for easy cleaning. There's no assembly required; just pull it out of the box and it's ready to hang. So far, I haven't seen any noticeable seed spilled on the ground beneath it. I've had it up for a week now, and the only drawback I see is that a lot of the birds won't use it. For the first five days, only the chickadees used it. So when my other tube feeder ran out of seed, I left it empty to see if the birds would start using this one. Finally, today, I noticed titmice and goldfinches using it. I don't know if the birds just needed time to warm up to it or if there's something about the design that doesn't appeal to them, but I'm hoping that eventually all of the small birds will use it. I have yet to catch a squirrel trying to break into it, but the perches collapse instantly under my touch, so I imagine it will do what it's supposed to do when a squirrel tests it. When we get our first good snow, I should have plenty of opportunity to observe it in action, and I will update my review then if necessary.**Update 12/27/14: Birds are really digging this feeder now. It's a big hit with the finches, chickadees, and titmice. The perches will support the bigger birds like cardinals, but the receptacles are small and the perches are short, so they can't really get their beaks down to the seed. Holds a lot of seed too, so it doesn't have to be filled as often.

I don't know whether to cheer for the birds or feel bad for the squirrels! Watching the poor things grapple with the little collapsible perches almost broke my heart, although keeping them out of the birdfeeder was the reason we tried this in the first place. If you want to keep the squirrels away, this will do it, but don't be surprised if your "soft, lover of all nature heart" is broken when you see the disappointment on their little squirrely faces. This holds lots of seed and makes those little song birds very happy,

Over the years I have tried numerous squirrel proof feeders without any luck; however the Perky-Pet 5151 Premium Squirrel-Be-Gone Breakaway Wild Bird Feeder has, thus far, kept the squirrels at bay. My first observation of this feeder was how large it is, this is not a bad thing, I was simply surprised. The feeder has a 4.5-pound seed capacity; the dimensions are 26.5 x 9.2 x 9.2. There are five perches for the birds to land on and eat, each only holds enough weight for birds, any heavier weight makes the perches drop, preventing squirrels from using the perches. The feeder comes fully assembled, with a stainless-steel hanger for easy hanging, a UV-treated polycarbonate tube, and the cap and base constructed of powder-coated zinc die cast to avoid rusting. The feeder has only been up for three days, so I have not been able to ascertain how easy the cleaning of the feeder actually is, yet based on the ease and width of the openings, I am not envisioning any cleaning issues at all. The only negative, which the birds quickly overcame, is that the birds need to dip their heads down and under to get to the food, as I mentioned, this was more a concern of mine then the clever birds. Overall, I am very pleased with this rather large feeder, which should bring a wide variety of birds to my home throughout the seasons.
