"Flexports" wear out quickly
Nov 13, 2025
"Flexports" where birds stick their beaks wear out and no longer contains the seeds inside, and they spill out to the ground. The company states they will not sell replacements. This is known as planned obsolescence.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Perky-Pet® Squirrel-Be-Gone Max Bird Feeder. The Flexports® are designed to stay durable and control seed flow, so wearing down and spilling seed shouldn’t occur. We understand how frustrating it is that replacement ports aren’t available, and we appreciate your feedback. Please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-737-5973 so we can further assist. We’re available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 7 PM EST.

I would not be writing this review if the company had tried to resolve my problem with the Perky-Pet Squirrel -Be-Gone Max Bird Feeders with Flexports. I bought two of these feeders over the past year. I loved them. That is until about 10 months or so after purchase After the feeders sit outside in the weather for a period of time, the flex ports become brittle. They break and the seed flows out of the feeder. Additionally, I’m concerned that the brittle rubber Flexports could be swallowed by birds and could harm them. I contacted Prrky-Pet. Their comment was they don’t manufacture the individual parts and the feeder is sold as a unit with a relatively short warranty. That was their position. So, after spending about $100 I suppose I just have to throw the feeders in the trash and buy feeders that aren’t defective And, hopefully the manufacturers will stand behind their products. I do not recommend anyone buy any product from this company which contains their Flexports that they actually use as a selling point in their advertising.

I have a Perky Pet Model 333.It works great against the squirrels. But the hanging wire rusted away and the feeder dropped to the ground. It can obviously no longer hang the Feeder. Can I get a replacement hanging unit which would include the Wire and Cap. This is the second time this wire has rusted away and my 2nd Feeder. Please Help.
I can't recommend this feeder.

I can't give it a zero so one will do. No replacements for the flex ports so feed just pours out of the feeder after a squirrel attack.

I purchased four of these high end feeders at Ace hardware. We’ll they lied. The ports lasted for three weeks and it’s been six months now and I have yet to find replacements. If. It found soon I’ll toss a hundred dollars into the trash and scratch perked

I purchased four of these high end feeders at ACE hardware in New Bern NC. The store assured me they were squirl proof due to the silicone ports which they assured me would last at least a season but were easily replacesble

Feeder Worked Great and Pests were definitely deterred. However, after less than 1 Year, the Hanging Wire Rusted away and I am no longer able to Hang the Feeder. Very Disappointing Construction.

We have enjoyed the feeder, it works great and watching the squirrels get defeated and fall on their heads is great fun! Unfortunately in less than 2 years we had to replace the feeder because the flexports are all broken and the seeds pour through. I have never seen a squirrel get near the ports, so I'm confident that the damage is done by the huge bird traffic pecking at the feeder. Is it possible to buy new ports? If so, I could repair my feeder and have a back-up or second feeder ready to go. Please let me know.
Needs Improved for 5 Stars

I love the idea of this product, however no matter how high or far away from a tree you hang it “something” figures out how to chew away the plastic guards. Takes a good 6 months or so for the guards to get eaten Once the plastic guards are gone the seed just dumps out rendering the feeder useless. This product would be the greatest thing on market if you could figure out a way to allow customers to buy and replace the plastic guards.

I’ve had this feeder for years and love how easy it is to fill.
Recently, the seed is running through it and I realized the flex ports are gone. Those pesky squirrels??
