Does the feeder come apart for cleaning?
Question by: Jim K on Mar 11, 2026, 12:40 PM
Yes. The Perky-Pet® Squirrel-Be-Gone® Wild Bird Feeder can be opened for cleaning. Simply remove the lid and wash the feeder with a mild soap and water solution, then allow it to dry completely before refilling with seed.
Regular cleaning is recommended to keep the feeder in good condition for birds, video tutorial can be checked on our website and official channel on YouTube.

This feeder is different than the old one I have. HOW DO I REMOVE THE TOP SO I CAN FILL IT?
Question by: Sharon Wood on Mar 18, 2026, 8:42 PM
To refill the Perky-Pet® Squirrel-Be-Gone® Wild Bird Feeder, the top lid lifts straight up to access the seed reservoir. It may feel secure at first, so a gentle upward pull should release it.
Once removed, you can fill the feeder and place the lid back on top to close, you can see the videos that we have on the website or on our YouTube channel that explains how to do it.

the bird seed is now molding and slimy in the feeder! I have tried to clean it multiple ways but must not be seeing a way to get to the"fused together food". I have soaked it, used a skewer any ideas would be appreciated. Don't know what to do next!
Question by: Carla Sayle on Apr 15, 2026, 6:38 PM
Thank you for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your feeder.
We recommend soaking the feeder in very hot water with dish soap to help loosen the material, followed by a soak in a vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 1–2 parts water), or a diluted bleach solution (about 1 part bleach to 9 parts water) to break down any remaining residue.
For hard-to-reach areas, you can add a small amount of dry rice or pebbles with soapy water and gently shake to help dislodge stuck debris. A bottle brush can also be helpful.

Can I purchase replacement ports, mine have taken some abuse by feeding birds and is leaking?
Question by: Mike on May 23, 2026, 4:22 PM
Replacement feeding ports are not available as individual parts for this feeder. Please contact us directly so we can review your specific situation and see how we may be able to assist further.
Answer by: Walter Sandoval (Admin) on May 26, 2026, 8:59 AM
I received my squirrel proof feeder and went to put it out today. Only 2 of the 6 port holes are accessible. The other 4 line up directly behind the leaves on the frame. Am I missing something? It doesn’t appear as though you are able to move them to line up.
Question by: Kathy Jones on May 26, 2026, 10:20 AM
Thank you for conacting us. We are sorry for the inconvenience. All ports should be accessible to the birds. On the website www.perkypet.com, at the bottom of the page in the “Contact Us” section, there is an email option where you can send us photos so we can provide the appropriate follow-up.

After a few days of use the springs popped off. I think I could reattach if I had a photo of how they should attach. Can you help?!
Question by: Kathie Allen on Jun 15, 2026, 5:40 PM
Thank you for reaching out. The springs on the Perky-Pet® Squirrel-Be-Gone® Wild Bird Feeder are designed to connect between the shroud and the feeder body to allow the weight-activated mechanism to function properly. If the springs have come off, we recommend referring to the assembly diagram in the instruction manual to ensure they are reattached in the correct orientation.
If you no longer have the manual or need additional assistance identifying the correct spring placement for your specific model, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
