This is my third purchase. They are made better as they upgrade them. Please note that these bird feeders must be placed away from trees and the house. I put mine on a shepherd's hook, and it's been a pleasure to see those birds come and eat.

Bought the feeder earlier this spring. When the squirrels get on the feeder the spring loading allows the body of the feeder to come down exposing a small opening between the top and the body of the feeder. Squirrels then try to chew their way into the feeder. Recently we found two of the flexible ports have come out at the bottom of the feeder. Are these ports replaceable? Otherwise the feeder is not usable. Thanks

This is a great feeder and does what it is meant to do.....keep the squirrels out! I would have given five stars but cleaning it can be tricky. Seeds get caught in the bottom of the feeder and can be difficult to get out. I want to try pushing the metal tabs and plastic tube to separate the two but am afraid of breaking it. Any cleaning video doesn't show the bottom coming off but it would definitely make cleaning much easier. With that being said, my birds and I still really like this feeder :)

Second one fell victim to squirrel onslaught. Each lasted ore than a year though. They'll hold onto the hanging loop with their back feet and without putting weight onto the dropping-enclosing cage, munch the food down to half full, (then it's out of reach). Did that to both. Their latest victory is the ultimate though. With the feeding holes covered, one of them got his/her teeth below one of the feeding holes, (at the bottom), so now the food pours out. Best I've used so far, but eventually them smart buggers find a way.

I Like This Seed Feeder.

I have purchased quite a few of this Perky Pet Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder over many years. When a squirrel jumps on it, the squirrel's weight pulls down the outer spring-action cage and closes off the seed-feeding openings. Then it jumps off. I use two of the feeders on my pole. It does hold about 2 & 1/2 lbs. of seed. Fortunately, I have a lot of space between my front porch and the feeder--approximately 4-5 ft.; and I have approximately 8-10 ft. between my azalea bush and the feeder. The front and right side of lawn is bigger. They get a little (rain) rusty after maybe seven years? It is a very attractive feeder, with leaves that cover the openings when the cage is lowered by the squirrel weight. It is easy to clean. I just empty any seeds that are in the bottom, and use a garden hose to flush them out and rinse the entire inside. I leave it on my porch to dry. Well, I hope that I gave some important information. Love the design. How do you clean down at the bottom, after the bird seed is wet?

Thank you for sharing your feedback! To clean this feeder, we recommend soaking it in a solution of warm water with a mild soap. It is not designed to be disassembled.

I have defeated the squirrels with small straps of duck tape starting just at the top rim and down the sides an inch or two. The inside spring fell apart and I got a 4 piece package of 2 inch springs from Lowes. This worked well. The feeder is back in action. The exterior springs may be replaceable at the hardware stire also but I have not needed to. I put a piece of duct tape over the placement on the exterior springs to secure them. Wire might work as well.
