Great build. Troubling materials. By sxot

I love the shape of this feeder -- it is very sturdy and has places for birds to perch. The hummingbirds love that, too. But over time the back of the metal flower lid erodes. The taste of the nectar gets tainted and smells very metallic. I change it often which seems to help, but there's no getting around the problem.

Metal feeder resevoir rusted in less than a month. By coldfoot

the inside of the metal feeder rusted out in less than a month and the birds quit coming to feed. Should have better coating that doesn't rust.. Very disappointed because t sure looked good.

Glass is ok; metal is insufficiently coated -RUSTS By Pbfoot

I feed hundreds of hummers but the birds stopped coming to this feeder because the METAL BOTTOM portion RUSTED and left the food unpalatable---can't blame them! Stick with the plastic; clean it often and if PP has replacement parts get them PS the birds don't care for the flower stick ons either, but if you remove them the bees will claim the feeder

Disappointed By Linda

I have the same rust problem with the base of the glass and metal hummingbird feeders. I have two of them purchased this summer. When the hummingbirds avoided these feeders, I opened them to clean and replace the liquid. The remaining food was brown and the feeders obviously rusted inside. I am very disappointed with this product.

not good By Jenny

I bought this as my second hummingbird feeder and the birds do not use at all, I have replaced the nectar 3 times since I bought it via Amazon and nothing. The plastic one they go through like crazy but they never even perch on this one. And it rusts as in previous comments

Rust and paint chipping kept birds away By BK

Looks really nice, but the birds stopped coming. Upon inspection, the reason being is quite obvious...the top and bottom on the inside that holds the nectar, and where the birds feed from, are rusted and the paint is chipping away. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but it can’t be good for the birds. It’s to bad too, because I really liked the look of the red mason jar.

Very disappointed By Storm

This is my third feeder from perky pets My first 2 work fantastic, they have plastic bottoms This one is metal and the nectar turns brown from rust the first time I cleaned it Why not use the plastic like the others I love the design, but had to retire it

Rust made this unusable By Kat

So disappointed in this project. I loved the red jar and was so excited to try it out. However, I had the same problem as other people - it rusted and the rust ruins the nectar and the birds won't eat from it. I wish there was a replacement base made of plastic that wouldn't deteriorate. This was a gift from my son, so I don't have any receipts. Even with a receipt, I don't want another of these. I'll find something with better quality from some other company.

Perky pet should be a responsible party By Birdie

I had the same experience as written about above. I had another empty Perky Pet feeder hanging next to a full Mason jar feeder and the birds wouldn't touch it. Fortunately the birds are smarter than the feeder designers! This is an attractive product ; why not just switch to a plastic bottom and replace it for those of us who bought the defective metal bottom? How could we have known this type of bottom might be defective and saved a receipt for more than a year? This shifts responsibility to the consumer when Perky Pets should have done proper product testing first!

Rusted out in less than 3 months. By moggy

This was a gift for Mothers Day. Now, less than 3 months later, the bottom tray that screws onto the jar has rusted out. There was no coating under the inner, small bowl of the bottom tray and it is badly corroded and turns the nectar orange. Birds won't feed from it.

RUST!!!! By Lizzie

I purchased 2 of these for gifts for my daughter and her friend. for the first few months I noticed we had quite a few hummingbirds, lately we have had none. No matter if I changed the nectar of not! Tonight I brought it in to clean it and I could smell the rust, no wonder there were no birds feeding from it! I have a soft spot for mason jars, so we were so excited to see this feeder! Now we can't even use it - so disappointed!

The hummingbirds love this feeder! I did encounter a problem, the bottom developed some corrosion over time, which would have caused me to provide a much lower review rating, but the customer service was EXCELLENT when I contacted the company and they more than made it right.

rusty parts, no replacements By love of the birds

like the size and quality of the product for washing,BUT the powder coat paint has come off the inside, not thinking this is very safe for the humming birds, feeding them rusty water. And you can not buy replacement parts.

Great feeder but the metal parts rust :o( By Sandy

This is my third year for this feeder and I loved the ease of filling and cleaning but now the metal parts are rusting and that makes the water rust for the hummers. SO sad when I changed the feed tonight and the water was a bit rusty. ALL the metal parts have deteriorated along with the rubber gasket thing. (And I clean it real good, dry it, and put it away (indoors) during the winter.) I'd like to order the bottom part if it isn't going to cost as much as the whole unit!

Leaks despite rubber seal on base. I do clean and change nectar every 3 days so it's no BIG deal, but..... annoying just the same. Other styles are more user friendly, this one is more ornamental.

Poor Choice of Materials By Costa

As many customers mentioned, the design of this feeder is good-but the metal used rusted. Not on the outside, rather the underside that is in direct contact with the nectar, inspite of regular cleaning. I never saw a single woodpecker or humming bird drink from this feeder. They drained older feeders in my yard. Luckily, the birds knew to stay away from the black rusty nectar. I have never experienced this before. The burden to recall the item should be on the merchant. Insistence that the customer retained their receipt is weak.

Bought last year cleaned often but still rusted inside no longer have recept and it was my best hummingbird feeder that attracted them. Really bummed me out bought for Mom which is a homebound demenisa pashent which loves watching hummingbirds.

Rusting metal a danger to hummingbirds By Jeff

The hummingbirds loved the red color, but a year after purchase the metal bottom is rusting. We're not using it anymore out of concern for the health of the birds. If the manufacturer knew about the potential to quickly rust, they should offer a warranty long enough to cover the defect.

It leaks By Bill Butterfield

Liked the design of this one with the little foot rest and having the red mason jar to attract the birds however as soon as I got fluid in it and hung it out on my patio, outside of attracting hummingbirds immediately, the only thing is has done is constantly dripped from between the metal pan that holds the fluid and the metal part with the flowers that they drink out of. This piece needs to screw together with a rubber gasket in between to prevent all of the fluid from leaking out....or something. Do you have any red color glass feeders where the bottom part is only 1 piece that screws on?

Very repeatedly disappointed By Avian advocate

So disappointed with your hummingbird feeders- my first two rusted and I let you know after the second one as I see many others have done. I to took photos to show my concern. You replaced it right away saying you have taken these concerns to your management. BUT the replacement feeder, the third I have owned, did the same thing in less than 6 months... you really don’t appear to be making improvements... I am soooo sad you have no concern for the health of hummingbirds as well as have no care for the fact these things get thrown away contributing to our landfill problem... it is a shame you seem to think you can just keep replacing something that ultimately just gets thrown in the trash.

Great feeder, rusting issues By JB

This is the best hummingbird feeder out there, easy to clean, the birds love it BUT I have to give it one star because unfortunately the paint that makes the inside rust resistant peels after a season of use and then the rust takes over. I don't have my receipt anymore and I only need replacement parts anyway. My hope is the company works on a revised feeder where the paint does not peel off. Thanks!

The rust will ruin the food, and you'll waste your time waiting and watching. By Mike&Oats

Avoid like the plaque, 'cause that's what hummingbirds do. Mine rusted (BADLY) on the inside, spoiling the food. Now I know why hummingbirds abandoned me after a few weeks. The rust will poison the food. Don't be fooled!

Rusted Hummingbird Feeder By eelaron

Very disappointed with this feeder. Looks pretty but after using it for a couple months the bottom completely rusted and turned the hummingbird necter black. The hummingbirds wanted nothing to do with it. I will try to take back to Lowes. Hopefully I can exchange it. From all the reviews I read sounds like you guys really need to do away with this type of feeder.

Round Two ... By Wendy M

After sending pictures of my rusted feeder base, customer service sent a replacement. However, despite very frequent cleaning (above recommended 2 times a week), as well as not being in direct sun, the replacement feeder now has the same issue after using it for only 4.5 months. The base smells funny, even with frequent cleaning. This smell taints the nectar and causes it to smell funny and hummers refuse to drink from it. After reading all of the reviews with the same complaints/issues, I am quite baffled as to why they keep making and selling this model. The replacement is now going in the trash.

Worthless for the price By Judy

I loved the idea of a RED glass jar. So I bought this one on June 5, 2018. I really want to keep my feeders sterile as I have a lot of birds and usually put up 2 or more feeders. Much to my surprise, this was not red glass it was a red FILM covered jar that started to peel away shortly after my 30 days were up. I change feeders every 4 days and the set of 2-3 is changed every other week. So much to my surprise I had only used this jar a few times. And because of this, I feel like I was scamed.

My feeder bottom also rusted....disappointed. And I also wish it had a replacement available....only a red plastic one. I cleaned/refilled the feeder every 3 days...still rusted. I went back to my red plastic Walmart feeder.

Not happy with feeder By Barb

Our hummingbirds do not like the silver base. They will go to our orele feeder instead. When they do drink from this feeder (very seldom), they will not perch as shown in the pictures for this product. They will sit on the hook holding this feeder, but only look down and then fly away to the orele feeder. Disappointed!

This rusts, don't spend your money on it. By Chris in Portland

For some reason the hummingbirds around my house didn't totally love this feeder. Not like the smaller feeder I was hoping to replace. That's ok, birds still showed up but just not as frequently as before. The problem with this feeder like many others have noted is that the metal interior is rusting. I can't imagine the hummingbirds are gonna be stoked to come drink here. Reading other reviews here it seems like I should have kept my receipt to get a replacement/warranty feeder. Why would I have kept a receipt for this feeder?? That's insane. "Hey, I think we should hold on to the receipt for this feeder in case it rusts and the company that makes it requires a receipt to get this replaced" is nothing I or my wife said or thought when we bought this at the hardware store. This rusted out after only a few months! Avoid unless you don't mind the disposability of this feeder.

Base rusted out , sell replacement parts. By Crystal

I loved the fact that the mouth is wide and i can get my hand in it to clean it. After a few months mind too had the bottom rusted out.I am very disappointed this feeder does not offer replacement parts.I bought it because it looked well made and easy to clean out.Guess the joke was on me. I have a lot of friends that love feeding the humming birds and i will not be recommending this feeder. Maybe you should take your customer's advice and sell replacement parts. The feeder is not cheap.

I wrote P/P telling them after a year of rust problem like everyone who had used over a year. Their response was like all others metal bottom power coating was rust proof (hogwash!) if change the nectar often. Then states satisfaction guarantee/replacement warranty. I had told them after a year. I also suggested that they make a replacement bottom! I also suggusted they make a plastic bottom this fell on deaf ears as there was no mention of suggustion reason BIG CASH COW us hummers will have to buy new feeder.

Rust is a problem. By Pat

I covered the feeding surface with red fabric to attract hummers. They weren't interested in it before that. Now the metal reservoir has rusted inside so, with no replacement available, it's garbage, according to the letters I've read above.

Only feeder that will work for me. No rust yet like other reviews. By Koliemarie07

I've had this feeder up for about one week or so. Took a couple of days but the hummer's starting visiting it. I had already put out two other feeders that were the plastic kind and absolutely no hummers came to feed to them. When I do see the hummers out they will only feed at this one and not the other two. I've had the feeder a short time so I cannot comment on any rust at this point in time and hoping if I clean it every few days I can avoid the rust. We shall see. Four stars because the handle is super low to the mason jar and it will not hang on my poles unless I were to purchase a hanger for it. In my opinion they could've included a hook for the price. I used a couple of bread ties to hang until I buy a nice hanger for it.

I Love all wildlife, I feed all birds & just keep repairing, cleaning feeders. By Barb Oaks

#1- I have had better luck finding replacement parts for Perky-Pet products. #2- That said, in N.C the squirrels love my feeders. They have learned to climb plain (no added design) shepard's hook poles, hang by back feet and tip feeder to drink OR chew the plastic flowers off and/or chew edges of bottom to drain the feeder. 2017 - 7 feeders destroyed. Only feeder that survives year after year is a heavy glass Red Chili Pepper with rubber stopper & a glass tube with an internal plastic feeding port. now16 years old. Metal always rusts, even if it is decorative and does not touch the Hummingbird feed. My Hummers are attracted to RED, so I buy the red bottle, ( I never use food color in feed) - have red flowers nearby.

Rusted and the hummingbirds avoided it. By Jamie

The hummingbirds did not seem to like this feeder, maybe it is the silver top where the yellow flowers are. Also, mine rusted badly. Inside and on top of the metal base as well as the flowers. I have shopped for a replacement part for this and have found nothing. Plastic would be much better though the spring and summer rains. I still have the jar top, had to throw the base away. Hoping a replacement comes out soon!!

Needs Redesign of Base Material By Wendy M

I loved the look and the capacity of this feeder. However, after a few short months, the interior of the base has rusted, smells funny and my hummers refused to drink from this feeder. It is no collecting dust in my garden shed.

Zero stars, not happy with either product By Kathie

Very disappointed in this product, rusts badly, enough to discolour liquid to a bright yellow.....can not be good for the hummers, bought last year with the clear mason jar and yellow flowers, hummers would not come to it initially but painted the flowers red, used it then but now the rust issue, to late for a refund. Also bought the double decker with the white flowers, plastic containers so flimsy cracked around the bottom of feeder, no fix there either,

Metal rusts badly. By Paul VR

This product is unfortunately not a great product. The metal base and the metal cover with the flowers rusted after a year. Had it replaced by Perky-Pet but the second one did the same. I won’t buy this one again!

Great Feeders with Squirrel Resisitance By Mike

I have been a hummingbird fan for most of my 69 years. When I moved to California 25 years ago the number of hummers that were attached to my feeders was amazing. This year we had a squirrel invasion. They peeled the flower feeding caps off the feeders and, in time ruined them. So, I needed replacements that the squirrels couldn't wreck. The metal base of the Red Mason Glass Hummingbird Feeders did the trick. So we are, once again, the neighborhood Hummingbird feeding HQ. Three feeders with two more this spring. Thanks, Perky Pet!

Leaking By Carl

Bought this in Tucson in August. No issue with attracting hummingbird just that it leaks at the bottom where the rivet holds the circular perch to the feeder. Makes a mess on the patio.

I WANT MY MONEY BACK By Vanessa

Just as everyone before has stated, the product is bad. Rusted base even turned the sugar water red! I bought two of them at Home Depot and they wont accept them back (ive had them too long) so i logged on here to see if anyone else had complained ...I 'm SO GLAD everyone spoke up here about it, but am dismayed to see these canned customer service responses simply directing us to call a customer service phone number... If the company wants to make it right or offer store credit they should just say so.

Great looks, poor design work!!! By ShortStuff

I was given one of these feeders this spring. I thought it looked great but I had almost no hummer's feed at it all year long. When changing nectar I noticed inside developed rust where parts came together. I just clean the rust when refilling. I still couldn't figure out why no hummer's. Masked off the flowers and painted top of the base RED and removed tape from the flowers, refilled feeder and rehung the feeder. First day I had several hummer's feeding from the feeder but on the second day, I had lots of hummer's feeding even in multiple. The problem is the shiney metal base. The top of the base needs to be painted RED at the factory and the rust inside needs to be addressed to make this a great feeder...

Should not be Sold By Lulu

I bought one at the end of June and had not one bird from Day 1. I took it down in September (with all of the nectar minus what the ants hadn't gotten still in it) and found that it was rusty on the inside. I don't think the rust was the deterrent though, at least not at first. I think it is more about the material or paint used on the base. They really shouldn't be selling this product. There are tons of one-star reviews on Amazon as well.

To attract hummingbirds, we recommend hanging the feeder no more than 10 to 15 feet from the nearest tree or shrub and placing it in an area that is clearly visible to them.

We are in the Arkansas delta and our hummers do no care for this feeder. Bought it a couple of years ago. Food would stay in it for months if I didn't change it. The base on mine is also rusting.

Rusty base, and no replacements available By NBB

The base of this feeder rusted the first summer I had it, and I've never been able to remove the rusty smell that repels the birds (the base leaks, too). Now I find that many other reviewers have the same problem, but the responses from Perky Pet just say the special coating should prevent rust! And now I see there are no replacement parts for this feeder. Couldn't you make a plastic cover with feeding ports for the base so that we can keep using the jar?

Dissapointed in ball jar hummingbird feeder By Char

I thought I had found the PERFECT feeder. Wide mouth for easy clean, base opens for easy clean, however ... so dissapointed to get feeder out this spring and find the base had rusted. I was hoping I could buy a replacement base from your site but have not seen one.

Need better grip to attach the base. By Carms

Be careful when you refill! Just refilled for the 2nd time, the base is a little difficult to secure....picked it up to carry out and the bottom fell off.....yes, sugar water ALL over the counter running down the wall and floor and area rug! UGH!

Mine had workmanship issues By windsor

Nice idea, poor execution. I was really thrilled to see this nice feeder. I'd bought a plastic cheap feeder in years past but never got anything but ants. After 2 weeks and no birds I went to clean it only to find it empty. The bottom assembly was assembled crooked, and the rivet that holds the base together was not put in properly. the gasket was unevenly seated and the bait dripped out. Looking to replace this one, hope for better luck next time

Same problem with rust. Bought two in spring 2016 and both bases developed rust. Totally unusable. I really like the clear glass (vs colored) but wish you would pair it with a better base. The upper part of the base with the feeding ports is fine, and I want you would keep that, just change the metal reservoir base to plastic (neutral color). Thanks.

Mason Jar Hummingbirrd feeder By Nan

I am sorry to see all these reviews with the problem of rusting. I noticed that my hummers were not feeding and brought the feeder in and it had started to rust. t That is all I could think of as being the problem. I put up another feeder and thankfully, my hummers have returned. I purchased one of these as a gift and one for myself and now am embarrassed by this. It is pretty, but that is all. Will never buy another one. I have always used Perky Pet as my "gold standard" of hummingbird feeders, but will have to rethink that now.

Ugh! Everything is disposable not meant to last By Revkiddeb

I love love loved this feeder til now one season later.... everything is super easy to clean, no dripping, BUT!!! the base is badly rusting and as far as I can tell on your site you can't buy "improved" replacement parts!!!!! What gives? I know for a fact that hummers like the glass feeders better had two feeders looked exactly the same one was glass the other plastic and used you switch em up and try fooling the hummers they always emptied the glass one so please don't go plastic but make some replacement parts I don't wanna throw out a perfectly good working feeder!!!!!!

Best humming bird feeder By Marlene

This is the best hummingbird feeder. I've purchased many over the years, and this one is the easiest to clean inside. And, the red glass is beautiful. I purchased 3 at a farm store. Every summer, between 20 to 25 birds are at my porch all day long during the summer. I make a pot of simple syrup 3 times a week. They love it! Keeps them coming back every year. Be prepared to go through 60 lbs of sugar a season, April through October. I live in Buena, southern New Jersey.

Bad product By Tan

I bought two of these feeders for myself and two for gifts. I'm very disappointed in your product. Shame on you Perky Pet. I have read through these reviews and it looks like a lot of people have the same problem with the metal bottom rusting. Surely this company can fix this problem. Very unhappy with this. I'm curious if any one has contacted the number they have given in these negative reviews.

Got only one season out of this feeder due to rust. By Kevin

I like the large mouth of the jar for easy cleaning but the metal base lasted only one season due to rust. I will not buy a metal feeder ever again unless it's 100% stainless. Big waste of hard earned money.

We got this feeder over a year ago and at first it attracted few is any hummers. After taking a course on how to attract hummers and butterflies we found out that location, location, location is important. After moving it from the side of the carport to just in front of the kitchen window (as distance of 10 feet) we have been inundated by these feathery beasties and they let us know loud and clear if the fluid id getting low!

I bought two of these feeders hoping they would resist the AZ sun. I am disappointed because both of them started to rust. It seems that the feeder part cannot be replaced, which is disappointing. Either use material that doesn't rust thru the enamel or sell this part as a replacement

Paint peels off glass and rust, birds hate it By Upwardbound48
I got this in June, the birds hate it but not even that matters as I can't even get the thing apart now it's rusted shut, and the red paint peels off the glass jar. They should say that it's painted. I did not keep the receipt AND WOULD REALLY LIKE A REFUND OR ANOTHER FEEDER THAT WILL NOT RUST THAT HUMMING BIRDS WILL FEED FROM

These feeders are clear glass with a red coating. However, due to the finishing process the color should not have peeled off. We recommend to clean the feeder with water and mild dish soap, the feeder should not be placed in the dishwasher.

Birds don\'t like it! By CFravera
Bought this feeder about a year ago and for a few days the birds drank from it. Soon there were no birds coming to it. I took it down and got a different one. Last week I gave t to my neighbor to try. Today she told me that she can see the feeder from her window and one of the Humming Birds got it's beak stuck in the feeder hole and had a terrible time trying to free it self. I think I now know why they stopped coming when I had it hanging up. Perhaps that wasn't the first time one got his beak stuck. So disappointed.

Having to modify design. By Longhorn
I like the fact that the jar has a large mouth for easy cleaning. I don't like the fact that the bail fits so close to the jar. I had to add a hanger to go over Shepard hook. The bottom leaks where the two pieces fit together, my husband had to build a gasket to go between the pieces to keep from leaking.

Works great By Nanao
I've had this feeder for 2 years now and it has worked great! Just this year I've noticed some rust, so going to coat those parts with something (not sure yet) Going to see if I can get a new base from company. In wasp season, they can't get the sugar unless we have a downpour of rain which must overflow it, so I take down, wash and put up again.

Unhappy Pappy By Randierover
Noticed these feeders at Home Depot & was so impressed with the look/color/quality that I bought two of them . But after a couple weeks they filled with ants and corroded on inside. Also noticed they couldn't get to nectar w/out going straight in due to no angle. Totally Bummed In Kentucky

I like this, not so sure about humming birds? By Lovemyfarm
This is a really nice feeder, but I just don't see humming birds using it often. They will use the other plastic kind and my husband and I wonder if the placement possibly of the flowers is difficult for the birds? Are they getting any nectar? Maybe they would prefer red flowers more at an angle? We watch them flock to the other type feeders that are cheap plastic and leak, and here is one we really like, and rarely see birds around it. So wish we knew what the issues was with this feeder that the little birds didn't like so much. It is crazy.

Does not work By Dreampie
My humming birds can not reach the liquid. I have my old feeder next to it and the birds like that one. This jar feeder is still full and the birds don't touch it. I painted the flowers red, and adjusted the wire, which broke off at the soldered seams. Not happy.

Best Feeder Ever! By Love the Animals
Within the first few hours of putting this feeder out on my apartment deck, the hummingbirds came! it is easy to clean & the hummingbirds just love it. I also like that there is no plastic. I bought more, so the birdies won't keep fighting over the one. Thank you for such a great product!

Terrible! Rusts! By TMF in CA
I purchased this feeder and installed this summer. Within weeks the basin cover has rusted and paint has peeled (and now rusted) in the basin bottom. The rusting turns the water brown. Also, there is no ant proof basin and they march down the hanger and straight into the feeder dish.

I bought this feeder a few weeks ago to replace another. First, the look of it is so nice in the yard. Second, if you have a lot of hummers, it holds a lot of food. I don't have that many so only fill it about 1/3 full so it doesn't go bad before it is eaten.

Disappointed By Poohbear
My husband bought this hummingbird feeder for me at Home Depot. I really liked the looks of it with the red mason jar glass. The part I don't like is the metal part the jar screws into. I noticed a little rust after emptying it and cleaning it for the 2nd time. I cleaned it up (or so I thought) and the next time I took it down a few days later the rust have increased tremendously. I've only been able to put it up for a total of a week/week and a half and to make it worse didn't attract any hummingbirds. I think they knew about the rust before I did. Very very disappointed.

Metal rusts and contaminates hummingbird food! By Sue220
The bottom metal part of the feeder starts to rust inside and contaminates the hummingbird food. I see these feeders for sale everywhere and I'm not sure if they all are made of the same metal but I threw mine away after noticing the rust. It is a great design but the bottom portion should not be made with a material that will rust.

Looks like it should work By Bern
I really liked the looks & the large opening for ease of cleaning, But the birds have a different idea, some go to it but most still go to the old #209 s I have to fill the 209s three times to one on the new feeder, for what ever they just don't like it. I have eight feeders up.

Very \"Attractive\" By skip49

Terrible By jacil
I bought this and noticed an offensive smell when I changed the humming bird food. The birds must have noticed it as well, they refused to use the feeder. When I replaced the feeder with the traditional plastic it still took the birds several days before they would come back. The bees and wasps refused to land on it as well.

Great Product until it rusts By Sword
Product lasted approximately a season and a half. After every season it is clean and dried before its put away for the winter. I was preparing for the new season and noticed that the bottom is starting to rust. Its useless now. It was great while it lasted. Contacted customer care and they replaced it for me. A+ rating for customer care. F for product rating due to design flaw. Problem is easily fixable if the company chooses to use better materials.

I really like the way the red mason jar feeder looks and it is easy to clean and refill. Only problem is that my hummers don't seem to like it as well as my older Perky Pet feeder. Hopefully they will adapt to the new look. I will just have to fill it with less food until they get the hang of it.

Best hummingbird feeder on the market By Anonymous bird lady
I bought this feeder a few weeks ago, and will never go back to the old kind. This feeder is easy to fill and even easier to clean, with no need for special brushes (bottle) which are impossible to find. In less than 2 weeks I had 4 of them because I feed a LOT of h-birds. Best feeder ever.

I love the wider opening - so much easier to clean. It's not true red glass, which is is a bummer for me, but not a show stopper.Two annoying things. One is that when I didn't seat the top into the bottom right, it leaked all over and I had a swarm of wasps take over the feeder. The other is that even if I do seat it right, the wasps can get into the nectar, or at least try to, and I think that scares away the hummers.

Great Feeder By
I have bought hummingbird feeders in the past that were the cheap red plastic. They also had a stupid plastic top to hang the feeder. The weight of the fluid and weather broke the plastic ring holder. This feed is all glass with a metal hook. This is by far a superior feeder.

Finally a feeder without plastic parts!!!! I haven't used this feeder for very long yet, however I wanted to post this ASAP to get some good feedback out.Living in the high desert as I do plastic parts dry-out and fail VERY quickly. It is nearly impossible to find a hummingbird feeder without any plastic parts.I am happy to report there isn't a single piece of plastic on this feeder!!! It is glass and various metals only!!!If you are tired of fatigued plastic parts failing on your feeder you should seriously consider this one!

Worth the little extra I paid By
These came and I was so happy with the quality. Easy to clean... no weird shapes in the nectar jar to try to get into. I bought two, and would buy them again. No dying of the nectar needed, as the red jars attract the birds. I am looking forward to the metal bottom not retaining the grime and mold residue feeders can form even tho I washed mine in bleach water and rinsed well between fillings. My opinion- don't buy the plastic ones... these are going to last me a very long time.

Sad..but I don\'t recommend this type feeder..... By
Let me start by saying I love Perky Pets Feeders. I was so excited when I saw these beautiful Red Mason Jar feeder, I bought 2, 1 for me and 1 for my daughter. The hummingbirds just don't like it, they fly up to it and then go to the old I have. I even took down the old and replaced it with this one, the hummingbirds won't come to it. My daughter lives 60 miles from me in a beautiful area, she didn't have any feeders and she hasn't seen ANY hummingbirds either. Very sad about this :~{
