Beautiful feeder, unfortunately the metal rusted and my hummingbirds refuse to use it.

the inside of the metal feeder rusted out in less than a month and the birds quit coming to feed. Should have better coating that doesn't rust.. Very disappointed because t sure looked good.

I feed hundreds of hummers but the birds stopped coming to this feeder because the METAL BOTTOM portion RUSTED and left the food unpalatable---can't blame them! Stick with the plastic; clean it often and if PP has replacement parts get them PS the birds don't care for the flower stick ons either, but if you remove them the bees will claim the feeder

I have the same rust problem with the base of the glass and metal hummingbird feeders. I have two of them purchased this summer. When the hummingbirds avoided these feeders, I opened them to clean and replace the liquid. The remaining food was brown and the feeders obviously rusted inside. I am very disappointed with this product.

I bought this as my second hummingbird feeder and the birds do not use at all, I have replaced the nectar 3 times since I bought it via Amazon and nothing. The plastic one they go through like crazy but they never even perch on this one. And it rusts as in previous comments

Looks really nice, but the birds stopped coming. Upon inspection, the reason being is quite obvious...the top and bottom on the inside that holds the nectar, and where the birds feed from, are rusted and the paint is chipping away. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but it can’t be good for the birds. It’s to bad too, because I really liked the look of the red mason jar.

This is my third feeder from perky pets My first 2 work fantastic, they have plastic bottoms This one is metal and the nectar turns brown from rust the first time I cleaned it Why not use the plastic like the others I love the design, but had to retire it

So disappointed in this project. I loved the red jar and was so excited to try it out. However, I had the same problem as other people - it rusted and the rust ruins the nectar and the birds won't eat from it. I wish there was a replacement base made of plastic that wouldn't deteriorate. This was a gift from my son, so I don't have any receipts. Even with a receipt, I don't want another of these. I'll find something with better quality from some other company.

I had the same experience as written about above. I had another empty Perky Pet feeder hanging next to a full Mason jar feeder and the birds wouldn't touch it. Fortunately the birds are smarter than the feeder designers! This is an attractive product ; why not just switch to a plastic bottom and replace it for those of us who bought the defective metal bottom? How could we have known this type of bottom might be defective and saved a receipt for more than a year? This shifts responsibility to the consumer when Perky Pets should have done proper product testing first!

This was a gift for Mothers Day. Now, less than 3 months later, the bottom tray that screws onto the jar has rusted out. There was no coating under the inner, small bowl of the bottom tray and it is badly corroded and turns the nectar orange. Birds won't feed from it.
