It's a nice SQUIRREL feeder!

It's a nice SQUIRREL feeder! They climbed up the shepherds hook and onto the feeder, even removing the lid at one point; typically, they wrap themselves around the wire mesh and gorge themselves. The birds got precious few seeds. I admit, it is a nice looking feeder, and in theory may keep squirrels out, but my hungry group wiped out 3 pounds of seed in less than 5 days!

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We're sorry to hear about this recent experience with this feeder. The metal cage is designed to protect the inside of the feeder from squirrels chewing on the plastic. The lid has a locking feature which should help to prevent them from gaining access to the seed from the top. Our feeders have a 30 day return period. Reach out via the Contact Us page for assistance.
The squirrels around here in ...

The squirrels around here in Spokane, Washington out stump the Squirrel Stumper! They chew around the ports so the feed simply pours out onto the ground! Today I wired spikes around the base of the feeder as well up the sides leaving room for my Chickadees and Finches to stand on the feeding landings. I hope this deters the rascals from getting to the seed. I'll let you know if it works

We are sorry to hear about this! Try and hang your feeder at least twelve feet from any tree trunk or limb and at least four feet up from the ground. This will prevent squirrels from either jumping from the tree or up from the ground onto the feeder. To help stop squirrels from stealing your seed, be sure to hang your feeder at least 18 inches away from any reach points. Our feeders are covered under a 1-year replacement policy. Please give us a call at 855-737-5973 for assistance.
This is a garbage feeder.

This is a garbage feeder. It's cheaply made, and the squirrels tore through the plastic in a matter of hours, rendering the feeder a useless waste of money. Of course no one is interested in doing anything about it, they got their money I guess. Save yours and buy a feeder from a company that knows how to make them both actually squirrel resistant, and safe for birds so they don't get their heads stuck between the wires.

I have to agree with everyone else. It is more for the squirrels then the birds. The squirrels love to hang from it. And the cardinals do not. What a waste of money.

We are sorry to hear that squirrels were not stumped by this feeder! In areas with particularly persistent squirrels, placing the feeder away from launching points can help protect your seed. Please give us a call directly so we can learn more and offer additional suggestions. - Susan

Replaced an old similar feeder. This one is better built. Birds came to it right away. Holds a good amount of seed.

I recieved this feeder as ... a gift! :)

I recieved this feeder as a gift when my 2 bird feeders couldn't handle the influx in traffic due to the next generation of feathered friends coming of age. I live in an urban area and enjoy any critters stopping by. I keep a seperate feeder for the squirrels and haven't had any issues with cross species food theft. The negative reviews are from people who want to have limitations and problems instead of creating inclusion and solutions. I'm grateful everyday to have a bit of nature around me in this concrete jungle.

Bottom feeder ports too low for birds to feed from/can't get footing. Have to hang upside down to feed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this feeder! It is designed with clinging birds in mind, and these birds are comfortable feeding sideways and upside-down. Pleas feel free to contact us at 855-737-5973 with any questions, we're happy to help.-Kathryn

I am sorry to hear that! Pleae keep in mind squirrels can JUMP! Ideal placement would be at least 12 feet away from any type of launch pad (tree, fence…) and at least 4 feet off the ground. Another easy tip is to add some cayenne pepper to the seed – squirrels hate it, but it doesn’t bother the birds at all. Durability

I have purchased numerous feeders of the previous generation of these type of feeders, where the tube inside unlatches and slides out of the bottom. The tubes wear out easily though. With this style, I am hoping they will last much longer because they are staying inside the wire mesh continually. So I haven't had them long enough to find out, but am giving them a thumbs up for the new design.

We're sorry to hear the squirrels are still a problem! To deter squirrels, we recommend placing feeders 8 ft away from launching points like trees and fences. Please give us a call at 855-737-5973 for additional recomendations or assistance with this feeder, we're happy to help. -Kathryn
