What are the most popular bird seeds to use?
Question by: Kathryn Tator on Oct 23, 2020, 12:10 PM
Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed. It is best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch.

How do I prevent seeds from sprouting under my feeder?
Question by: Kathryn Tator on Oct 23, 2020, 12:13 PM
You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Some store-bought seed will already be sterilized and will often state this on the packaging.

The company used to have a feeder similar to this, however, in order to fill it, you gave a little twist to the bottom and the seed container dropped out and you filled it. That was the best design and so easy to fill. Why was that design discontinued?
