The Perky-Pet® Green Seed Ball Wild Bird Feeder features a unique mesh wire design and provides the perfect feeding area for a variety of clinging birds. This 1.12 lb seed capacity feeder is all metal, and contains no plastic, and no wood. This special design also keeps water from pooling in the container - keeping seed fresh longer. The feeder is low-maintenance, easy to clean and is sure to keep birds happy all season long!
The top does NOT open with a "gentle twist" clockwise or counterclockwise. That motion can break off the hook. The only action that successfully worked without damaging the feeder was to pry off the top with a with a very thin, flat headed screwdriver.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Perky-Pet® Squirrel-Be-Gone Max Pinecone Bird Feeder with Flexports®. We’re sorry to hear about the trouble opening the lid. The top is designed to open with a gentle twist, and forcing it or prying it can damage the feeder.
To help prevent this, hold the feeder body firmly and apply steady, even pressure while twisting the lid, rather than pulling on the hanging hook. If the lid feels stuck, a slight back-and-forth twist can help loosen it.

Well made. Birds swarm it and it's empty before you know it. I fill it every 3 days. The little Downey woodpeckers love it. I'm glad I bought it.
I was surprised that black oil sunflower seeds fell out so easily. Not sure if I can use this feeder unless I buy the large gray sunflower seeds, which are more expensive.
This feeder is designed to be used with black oil sunflower seeds exclusively so we are sorry to hear that you didn't have luck! Please give us a call directly so we can learn more and offer some help. - Susan

The birds immediately took to this round feeder. A bonus affect is that by the time it's about half full, the House Sparrows don't come anymore because they can't hang upside down like the native feeder birds.
Great feeder and well made. I have had a similar feeder for 10 years and still going strong. Squirrels can get seeds but only one at a time so there is no waste and they can't destroy the feeder.
Amazon Review, This is \"For the Birds\"" only in a good way!"

The only drawback to this feeder is that the birds like it so much, that it requires almost daily refilling. A great product, though, and it looks like one that will last!
I purchased both the green No/No Seed Ball and the red one. I fill both with sunflower seed. Yes, seed do fall out, but it's not a huge problem. The birds love it. I have seen as many as five birds at a time hanging on it. However, it is NOT squirrel-proof. At this moment, I am watching a squirrel hanging upside down from it. He must have rock-hard abs because he curls up to get another seed when he finishes the first seed. Someone mentioned a problem with squirrels removing the lid. I haven't had that problem, although it may occur when the lid gets loose from wear. My seed ball feeders have been in use for several months. I am really happy with my purchase.
I just received this bird feeder today its ok there is a lil hole ontop of the lip that i hope does not leak we will have to see... I filled mine with black oil sunflower seeds it held the seed very well hardly no fallout the bird feeder it self was not as heavy duty as I thought but over all it is pretty nice (so far) and the birds seem to like it!
Some people had trouble with squirrels taking the top off so I decided to tie wrap the lid on after I fill it. It is not squirrel proof they can hang on and they will stay until they get their fill. I put mine on a thin wire and they can't get to it.
The lid does not twist off, is there a way to loosen it?

The feeder design allows the lid to open by turning it to either side and gently pulling it upward.

What type of metal is this product made of? I'm interested in using it as a foraging opportunity for my parrot. I just want to make sure there's no zinc, copper, lead, mercury, or cadmium.
Thank you.
