Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed. It is best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch.

How do I prevent seeds from sprouting under my feeder?
Question by: Kathryn Tator on Oct 23, 2020, 12:13 PM
You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Some store-bought seed will already be sterilized and will often state this on the packaging.

When the feeder was filled the liquid poured out of the flowers. Did not drip, but poured out. Cleaned up the sugar water and tried it with only water thinking we had done something wrong. Same result.

Hello!
I'm sorry to hear that the feeder is not holding the liquid as it should.
If your feeder is leaking, please try disassembling it and reassembling, ensuring all parts are threaded properly and tightened securely.
Additionally, cleaning the feeder may help resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Empty the feeder and dispose of any leftover nectar.
Take the feeder apart.
Create a mild solution of soap and hot water, then allow the feeder to soak.
Use a cleaning mop to scrub away any nectar residue or mold buildup.
Rinse the feeder thoroughly with cold water.
Allow the feeder to air dry completely before refilling.
If you need further assistance please call contact us.
