I bought this product for years but this year when I put it out one bird came to feeder once briefly and then disappeared! What do you think that means?
Question by: Beverly Golden on Apr 19, 2025, 4:05 AM
Thank you for reaching out and for your continued loyalty to Perky-Pet® products over the years. Hummingbird behavior can vary from year to year due to several factors, including shifts in migration patterns, changes in local habitat, or even variations in weather. In some cases, the availability of other food sources nearby—like blooming flowers or additional feeders—may also influence where hummingbirds choose to feed

I purchased the above powder concentrate nectar at the end of last year and when I opened a package this year it had an unusual odor and when I mixed it it was purple instead of red. Happen to all the packages I purchased last August of 2024. My birds do not seem to be drinking it this year as they are returning. What does this mean?

Thank you very much for contacting us. It would be our pleasure to assist you.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the nectar powder. The change in color and unusual odor may indicate that the product has degraded, especially if it was not stored in a cool, dry place.
For the safety of the hummingbirds, we recommend discontinuing use of any packages that appear discolored or have an off odor.
