Why does the base of this feeder rust so bad? When I clean, any leftover solution is rusty colored. That can't be good for the birds.

Rust can form if the feeder’s metal parts are exposed to moisture and not dried properly. To prevent this, clean with mild soap, dry thoroughly, avoid harsh cleaners. Hang the feeder in a sheltered area to reduce exposure to rain. If the problem continues, please contact us

How do you open the feeder pertaining pets jar, it doesn't seem to budge

The jar simply screws on and off the base. If it’s difficult to open, we recommend gently twisting it counterclockwise while holding the base securely. Sometimes, residue or tight factory sealing can make the first opening a bit harder.
