Squirrel Proof Seed Shield™
To offer defense against squirrels, this feeder boasts multiple great features. First, is the feeder’s weight-activated Seed Shield™, which is calibrated to support the weight of birds but not squirrels. When squirrels try to gain access to the perches, the cage closes off the ports under their weight. Birds can sit on every perch without activating it. I give it a 4 star because I am on my second feeder and the flex ports get torn up. Are there any replacement parts for these?
I do not want to buy a third one. Once the port is damaged the seed tends to flow out.
My husband bought me 2 of these feeders thinking they were the same as my brome one. The squirrels pulled half of the flex ports out within a week. I glued them back on with flexible glue. I thought that would take care of the problem. But the squirrels have totally tore up the rubber around them and now the seeds won’t stay in the feeder. Also the coating on one of the cables is coming off and hard to get the top to slide open. I’ve had the same type of feeder in another brand for 10 years and it’s still going so this is disappointing for the price he paid. I can’t find where you can replace the ports anywhere.

I recently left a one star review. The company reached out to me a short time later and asked if I would send them photos of the defective feeders. After they reviewed the photographs, they promptly sent me three new feeders. The newly designed feeders seem to be much better in terms of addressing the problems that I had. Thank you very much.

Birds are creatures of habit so it can take a few weeks for them to become accustomed to a new feeder in their environment. We recommend placing a shiny pie pan full of seed below the feeder to help attract them.

The crows have ruined the flex ports. We purchased two of these feeders for my mother for Mother’s Day and she loves watching the birds but now that the seed is trickling out because of the flex ports failing, she’s losing more seed than ever.

Purchased this model at Lowes a month ago. First week or so, it worked really well. That was until a squirrel figured out how to unlock the top. It (they) have been opening it and gnawing at the metal portion that holds the string. It's just a matter of time before they have gnawed through and 1) can get into the birdseed inside and 2) destroy the metal bar that holds the string, thus it will no longer be able to hang. I just measured the distance and it's 18 inches from the pole and 19 inches from the top, but that has not stopped the squirrels from getting on the birdfeeder. Plus, they have bitten off one of the plastic flex ports. They don't have any replacement flex ports at Lowes. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this product. A better locked top and replacement flex ports would significantly improve this product.

This is a ridiculously excellent product, the best from this company. Seeds don’t go flying, and stay dryer (so you don’t have to clean out fermenting clumps of seeds). Thumbs up!
I bought two of these feeders. This is a great feeder until the plastic feeding ports are torn out by woodpeckers/animals letting all the seed fall out and then the feeder is not usable anymore.

I can't recommend the Squirrel proof feeder as the Flexports that meter the birdseed fall out and replacements are not available. That's the bad! What's good is the 1 year replacement guarantee. A few minutes on the phone with a knowledgeable support person and some rather painless process questioning and I'm pleased to report that a couple days later the replacement arrived. Fortunately I didn't toss the old one in the trash, so I now have the precious spare Flexports for the next time one falls out. I'm certain they will, because I'm not likely to bring the feeder in every time the wind blows more than 10 mph or we see squirrels congregate. The feeder design is questionable, but the customer service was excellent.
