What are the most popular bird seeds to use?

Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed. It is best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch.

How do I prevent seeds from sprouting under my feeder?

You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Some store-bought seed will already be sterilized and will often state this on the packaging.

What is the out side diameter of the pole? Is it a screw on or slip on bird feeder?

The hole for pole mounting is a 1 inch diameter. The feeder slips onto the pole.

New design with metal cable does not lock. Was open and seed all over the ground first day. I will be returning to Home Depot. Is the old style still available and where

Do you still make a larger version of this feeder? I purchased this model and it's much smaller than my older model. It doesn't work for my larger birds, and I have to fill it more frequently. Please advise. Thanks
