I just recieved this. How do you take it apart for cleaning? The bottom inside pieces do not come out, looks like a slimy mold issue waiting to happen. If the pieces all come apart, I will clean it and hang it up.

Although it looks lovely and the birds used it. I have only used it just over a month and the glass at the base has broken. The temperature here has gotten to -4 but I switch the feeder out with another before it freezes.

We have several of these. They are a favorite of the birds plus the shape allows air to travel upwards so no need for periodic burping as with others.

Bought one it leaked the food out of 3 of the ports which landed on my deck. That in turn attracted ants. As far as I'm concerned it is a piece of junk and not worth the cost.

We're sorry to hear your feeder leaked. This can occur if the feeder has a loose connection or is hung in direct sunlight and the nectar expands. Please contact us at 855-737-5973 with any questions or for more tips on how to prevent your feeder from leaking.

We're sorry to hear that! Be sure to check that the base is tight, and that the bottle neck threads line up correctly to help prevent leaking. For best results, we recommend hanging the feeder in the shade as well as out of high traffic or windy areas. If the feeder continues to leak after trying these tips and tricks, please contact us directly at 855-737-5973 for warranty assistance.
I. Fixing a leaky Perky Pet feeder.

I. too had problems with leaks that were messy and wasteful. I began to investigate and found a video on YouTube showing how to clean a Perky Pet hummingbird feeder. It was an older model, but had the same design as my Pinch-Waist feeders. The first time I cleaned the feeder I was not aware the float device could be separated for cleaning. Yesterday, I saw a video of how to do that. So I did. I did not pay attention to the placement of the float. When I put it together, it leaked like a sieve. I took it apart again, but did not look at the float. And got the same results. According to the video, the float has a flat piece in the center on one side and a very small button-like piece on the other. The video explained that the flat piece is designed to face the top of the feeder and acts as a valve to regulate the water flow as the birds drink. I had the button side facing up and it was not big enough to cover the access from the reservoir. Ergo, lots of leaking. When I took the leaking feeder apart, I saw the float facing the wrong direction. I turned it around, put it all back together, filled it and put it outside along with a second feeder that I put together correctly. And not a drop came out of either feeder. I had much frustration thinking I was going to have to buy more feeders in order to supply the growing numbers of Hummers gathering everyday near the season's end. The YouTube video is listed as - Perky Pet 9109 ISR Crystal Top-Fill Glass hummingbird Feeder Review.

The hummingbirds seem to love this feeder however, I do not. I have purchased this feeder 5 times and every time the bottom splits. It’s such a shame too!

Oh no! We are so sorry to hear about this. To help prevent this from happening, we recommend making sure not to secure the base onto the feeder too tightly. While we do not have replacement parts available separately, it is good to know that the feeder is covered under a 1-year replacement policy. Please give us a call at 855-737-5973 for assistance.

I bought 2 last year ,excited about the top fill. Unfortunately, they both leak like sieves! I just rehung them this year, hoping maybe I could get the coneections tighter but still leaking.. I have no idea what the foam float is that others are talking about.

Thank you for this feedback. We are sorry to hear that the feeder is leaking in this manner. Inside the base of the feeder should be a foam disk or 'float' that helps prevent leaking. Our feeders have a one year replacement policy. Reach out to us via our Contact Us page with any questions.

It leaks. I lose all the nectar in about 5 days. I have tried tightening and finding the source of the leak.

I have two small pinch waist top filling hummingbird feeders. It took me a while to realise that you really have to screw the bottom of the bottle into the base, ensuring you've done it tightly. This ensures the base is secure to the bottle. As for the ant moat, don't use it. I put olive oil on the hanging hook and it's never failed me.
