Perky-Pet® Transparent Squirrel Baffler
Squirrels have a way of ransacking a bird feeder, dumping all the feed onto the ground and making a mess of things. If you find peace in watching wild birds at the bird feeder--but not so much those pesky squirrels, this Perky-Pet® Transparent Squirrel Baffler can help.
With its large 16-inch diameter and gently curved dome-shaped profile, there's no getting around it: birds can enjoy eating at the feeder, and squirrels will be blocked from bothering them.
Save money on seed, reduce time refilling and cleaning up your bird feeders, and enjoy a less stressful viewing experience with this baffler in place. It promotes a more efficient way to feed wild birds and can be used with any bird feeder.
Hang or Pole Mount
This transparent 16-inch squirrel baffler can be hung or pole mounted. When hanging the baffler, it blocks squirrels from above. The included hooks have the strength to hold up to 12 pounds. The top hook attaches the baffler to a tree limb or other hanging location, while the bird feeder hangs from the second hook located underneath the baffler. Most squirrels will descend the wire to the baffler and give up. A more persistent squirrel may put its weight on the baffler in efforts to access the bird feeder below, but after climbing onto the baffler, it will quickly tilt, sending the squirrel down to the ground (startled maybe, but uninjured). The hanging baffler has the added benefit of partially protecting bird seed from rain and tree debris.
When placed on bird feeder poles, this baffler prevents squirrels from gaining access to the bird feeder from below. Squirrels may try to climb up to the feeder, but they won't be able to get around the baffler. To pole mount this baffler, simply lower it over the top of the pole and screw it into place. About a foot below the feeder works best. Everything needed for either hanging or pole mounting comes included: a 16-inch-diameter transparent shield and all hardware (2 hooks, 1 baffle hub, and 3 screws).

Review Ratesquirrels are eating the plastic to defeat the baffel
Bought this and in less than 3 days the squirrels are chewing through the plastic nut that holds the baffle up. What good is this if the squirrels can chew right through the plastic, give me metal a metal attachment to the pole! Apparently, I am not the only one with this issue.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback! Placement is key when forcing the squirrels to come in contact with the baffler. The feeder and baffler should be kept at least four feet off the ground and 12 feet away from any launching point (tree, fence, bush..etc).

Review RateSquirrels ate it in less than a week

Review RateDoesn't work for pole mount.
I cannot get the screws through the hard plastic piece to mount on a pole. I have three baffles and cannot get the screws through any of them. I even soaked the piece in hot water to try to soften it, but could not them through. I couldn't find replacement screws that would work. It needs to be a softer plastic, or, made differently. Support couldn't help me. They would probably work great for hanging, but the pole mount doesn't work at all on those I purchased.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We recommend using an electric/battery powered drill to install the screws. It is necessary for the screws to be a tight fit so that it holds well.

Review RateDONT HANG ANY WEIGHT FROM THE THREADED HOOK ASSEMBLY
(from the product description) ..."The included hooks have the strength to hold up to 50 pounds." --- FALSE --- The hook assembly came apart and smashed my 10lb bird feeder. Now I am out a $30 squirrel baffler, and a $25 feeder. Hooks are made of cheap plastic and the thread assembly pulled completely out of cheaply-designed hooks that thread into each other, on each side of the baffle. Warning: if you are purchasing this product to hang any kind of weight from the hooks....they will eventually come apart because there is literally nothing keeping the threaded part contained in the hook assembly. GARBAGE CLAIM OF 50LBS!!!!! I'm glad I didn't purchase any more baffles as they are not well designed for holding weight.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateGreat product
Great product. We found that if we hung the feeder right below the baffle the squirrels could swing onto the feeder. We installed an 18 inch cable between the baffle and the feeder. Problem solved, the squirrels try to get to the feeder and they tilt the baffle and end up on the ground!
Review RateGood Basic Design; Hub Needs Improvement
The baffle is well designed and has worked well for us BUT.... The baffle sits on a hub made of hard plastic. The hub attaches to your feeder pole with three metal screws going through the hard plastic. Our hub broken within a day of installation. Metal screws through hard plastic is not a good combination. The hub should probably be made of metal rather than plastic. FYI: The baffle comes with a 1 year warranty. Perky Pets was willing to send us a new hub. FYI#2: The hole in the hub is about 1 3/8 inches in diameter. If your pole is a smaller diameter, the hub may "rock" on the pole.Response From Perky-Pet®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Ratewonderfully slippery!
really works great! the squirrels have their own food items in another tree, so the birdies should e left alone. thanks again and really enjoy all the information you send. dani
Review RateNew use for bafflers!!!!
Love this item! Although...I did not buy them to baffle squirrels. I use mine to keep my hummie feeders dry when it rains. I discovered years ago that nectar does not last as long if it gets wet, it gets cloudy and "green". NOT GOOD! These baffles work wonders and the hummies love them, too!!!!!
Review RateSquirrels will not be fooled.
The Squirrel Proof Cover works just fine, but the squirrels jump from the shepherd's hook onto the feeder which, though advertised as squirrel proof, is furnishing meals of seed to many different squirrels. I cannot believe there is a positively foolproof way of keeping our bushy tailed friends from helping themselves to the sunflower seeds.
