Perky-Pet® Transparent Squirrel Baffler
Squirrels have a way of ransacking a bird feeder, dumping all the feed onto the ground and making a mess of things. If you find peace in watching wild birds at the bird feeder--but not so much those pesky squirrels, this Perky-Pet® Transparent Squirrel Baffler can help.
With its large 16-inch diameter and gently curved dome-shaped profile, there's no getting around it: birds can enjoy eating at the feeder, and squirrels will be blocked from bothering them.
Save money on seed, reduce time refilling and cleaning up your bird feeders, and enjoy a less stressful viewing experience with this baffler in place. It promotes a more efficient way to feed wild birds and can be used with any bird feeder.
Hang or Pole Mount
This transparent 16-inch squirrel baffler can be hung or pole mounted. When hanging the baffler, it blocks squirrels from above. The included hooks have the strength to hold up to 12 pounds. The top hook attaches the baffler to a tree limb or other hanging location, while the bird feeder hangs from the second hook located underneath the baffler. Most squirrels will descend the wire to the baffler and give up. A more persistent squirrel may put its weight on the baffler in efforts to access the bird feeder below, but after climbing onto the baffler, it will quickly tilt, sending the squirrel down to the ground (startled maybe, but uninjured). The hanging baffler has the added benefit of partially protecting bird seed from rain and tree debris.
When placed on bird feeder poles, this baffler prevents squirrels from gaining access to the bird feeder from below. Squirrels may try to climb up to the feeder, but they won't be able to get around the baffler. To pole mount this baffler, simply lower it over the top of the pole and screw it into place. About a foot below the feeder works best. Everything needed for either hanging or pole mounting comes included: a 16-inch-diameter transparent shield and all hardware (2 hooks, 1 baffle hub, and 3 screws).

Review RateExcellent Product - Excellent Service
Both the product and the people behind it are excellent. (I did add a fishing line swivel above the baffle and feeder because the squirrels were spinning the baffle wildly when they would save their fall by jumping off. After a few weeks, the squirrels seem to be content to feed on the ground below the feeder! Well done WoodStream!
Review RateNot for use below a feeder, it will fail.
This baffle does not work below a bird feeder. There are three screws in the collar, it would work with four. The screws need to oppose each other for the best holding power. With three, one screw makes contact with the pole, directly. The other two slide by, giving some hold, but not enough with the weight of critters hitting it. It will eventually fall to the ground, which mine did. My pole is square, cast iron, comes apart in two pieces near the top.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Ratecheap plastic hub fails rendering baffle unusable
We bought our baffle a little over a year ago and also noticed the screws in the hub were very tight. One of the screw holes cracked slightly when we installed the screws and now the crack has spread and the hub has broken and is unusable. It did a good job on our pole mounted feeder until the hub failed. We are disappointed that the baffle will no longer be usable since replacement hubs are not available.
Review RateSquirrel Baffle does not mount on pole.
I was not able to mount this Baffle to a Pole. The screw holes on the Collar are too tight. The screws just locked within the collar.I believe the Perky Pet has an engineering and design problem. I spoke to Brian at Perky Pet. He said that he would investigate the problem. I do not recommend this Baffle be bought for pole mounting.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for providing this feedback! We are sorry for this experience. When installing the screws, we recommend using an electric/battery powered drill. It is important for the screws to be a tight fit to ensure it holds well.

Review RateLove this!
This worked well for me. The squirrels did try to chew through the hub but did not succeed and would sit on the ground underneath looking up longingly at my jelly feeder for the orioles. My pole is far from any trees so they can't jump to it.
Review RateNot for shepherd's hooks!
Be aware that this baffle does not work on a hook-type feeder pole! I spent a lot of money only to find out that the round plastic piece does not fit over my shepherd's hook! Already punched out the hold for pole-mounting but it doesn't work. Can't use the baffle at all. Very disappointed.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We are sorry to hear of this experience! This product comes with two hooks that screw together. One hook will hang on the shepherds hook and the other hook will hold the feeder. The baffler is held in-between these two hooks.
If you would rather pole mount the baffler, it can be installed on a pole that has an outside diameter of 3/4 inch to 1/4 inch.

Review RateBuyer Beware - Baffle is not Engineered Correctly
I loved having the clear baffle, but the squirrels jumped on it and managed to make the screwed hooks come undone six times at least since my husband bought the baffle in March of this year. The last time the squirrels unscrewed the baffle hooks and the the feeder fell, we were not able to find the bottom part of the hook. There is no way to use the baffle now. We have lost more seed than we were trying to save by having the baffle. This was a definite purchasing mistake.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback! The goal of this product is to tilt under the weight of a squirrel, throwing them off course. To see the full potential of the baffler, we recommend keeping it (and the feeder) at least 12 feet away from any launching point.

Review Ratesquirrels are eating the plastic to defeat the baffel
Bought this and in less than 3 days the squirrels are chewing through the plastic nut that holds the baffle up. What good is this if the squirrels can chew right through the plastic, give me metal a metal attachment to the pole! Apparently, I am not the only one with this issue.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback! Placement is key when forcing the squirrels to come in contact with the baffler. The feeder and baffler should be kept at least four feet off the ground and 12 feet away from any launching point (tree, fence, bush..etc).

Review RateDoesn't work for pole mount.
I cannot get the screws through the hard plastic piece to mount on a pole. I have three baffles and cannot get the screws through any of them. I even soaked the piece in hot water to try to soften it, but could not them through. I couldn't find replacement screws that would work. It needs to be a softer plastic, or, made differently. Support couldn't help me. They would probably work great for hanging, but the pole mount doesn't work at all on those I purchased.Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We recommend using an electric/battery powered drill to install the screws. It is necessary for the screws to be a tight fit so that it holds well.
