Helpfulness
When new it worked fine. Over time the spring load weight becomes stiff and unresponsive.
Nov 23, 2023
When new it worked fine. Mine is several years older and the rotating ring takes a lot of weight to turn when squirrels get a hold.
The ring is uneven, by that I mean if they hold one section it turns quickly but on another portion it won't turn at all.
I have looked for a way to make the spring load work better. Tried WD40 which improved the rotating but not the weight issue.
Perhaps the spring needs to be replaced?

This is a replacement of an old bird feeder which used to be very popular for the local birds. Since the first day, I changed the old bird feeder and hang this new one there has been not been even a single bird to approach it.

I’ve had 2 of these and the gray squirrels broke both of them. They hung onto the perch repeatedly and broke it off. Was not able to get replacement parts so I have an unusable feeder.

After going through multiple feeders that didn't keep the squirrels out, I'm delighted to say we have found the ONE. Setup was very quick and straightforward after a quick overview of the steps. I really like the tall size of the cylinder, makes it very easy to reach in our tree and replace with more seeds - I don't need a ladder now. There's also plenty of space on the ring to allow for multiple birds. We're extremely happy and would highly recommend.

Our squirrels knocked it off the hanger and devoured all the seed!

Oh no! We are sorry to hear that happened. Try and hang your feeder at least twelve feet from any tree trunk or limb and at least four feet up from the ground. This will prevent squirrels from either jumping from the tree or up from the ground onto the feeder. Feel free to give us a call at 800-352-9164 for further recommendations and tips, we're happy help!

There was no green thing for the middle of mine the seeds just fall out. Squirrels just hang from the top to eat the seeds. It sure not worth the money I payed for it thank you.
Best feeder ever!

Best feeder ever! It survived being hauled off by a black bear as well as giving us squirrel flinging entertainment!

The spring is too stiff
Jun 3, 2023
The new spring is too stiff. I've had a Yankee Flipper for over 15 years and replaced the Ni-Cad battery stick twice. But the new Lithium battery stick allows squirrels to steal the birdseed. The feeder is over 12 inches away from the pole but the squirrels can rest their front paws on the ring without triggering it. Oh sure, I could go to a long reach hook, or put a baffle on the pole, or use a six inch diameter pole -- but the Yankee Flipper is supposed to make those kludges unnecessary. That was once true, but now is isn't.

The idea behind this is excellent, however it didn’t take long for the squirrels to figure out how to stop the wheel from spinning, and draining the battery. On the base with the four spring prongs, the squirrels have figured out how to hold on to all four prongs and eat away. Even using a cone ballast, they find a way.
