Helpfulness
Ports clog up.
Apr 11, 2025
Keeps squirrels away, but clogs up frequently using black oil sunflower seeds. The seed ports which are located at the bottom of the feeder just clog up all the time. They either need to have larger openings so the birds can self clean these areas or the design needs to change so the seed ports are not located on the very bottom of the feeder tube.
VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!

VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Yankee Droll Spinner
After purchasing (6) of these feeders for the craftsmanship, Lifetime Warranty and supporting American Made Products and the ability to deter squirrels humanly from cleaning out the bird seed,, I found the weight of the feeder with 5 lbs of seed and the squirrels jumping on the spinner from a distance, therefore has cause the screw holes that hold the feeder together through the polycarbonate tubing breaks out of the polycarbonate tubing, therefore
Allowing the lithium battery and spinner to come crashing to the ground, bending the spinner and breaking the lithium battery not to work!
CUSTOMER SERVICE is a JOKE!
Once you can understand their foreign accent,, you’ll learn they require a receipt to what is advertised as a LIFETIME WARRANTY!
Cop out to avoid standing behind their product!
NO PARTS AVAILABLE!!
Customer service claims parts are available on Amazon,,, but when they look,, they are very, very sorry they see no parts are available. Another excuse to not stand by their product and give customer support and satisfaction!
I live close to the WOODSTREAM HEADQUARTERS in Lancaster , Pa
And I will personally visiting their Corporate Office to voice my concerns about their advertising, warranty and product support.
All I am hoping for is some parts to rectify the problems.

Disappointed.

We have two friends who were very happy with their Yankee Flippers, but we've had very bad luck with ours. The first feeder wouldn't open, and Woodstream was good about replacing it. The second Yankee Flipper worked fine initially, but within a week it stopped spinning, and the squirrels have learned they can sit on the rail and eat to their hearts' content. I had charged it overnight before filling it with seeds, and my brother-in-law said the charge on his feeder lasts several months. I'm very disappointed, because I doubt they'll replace the feeder twice. :(
Christmas gift from my husband.

Christmas gift from my husband. After 1 month of use, saw a squirrel hanging from it so obviously the flipper action wasn’t working. Tried recharge as instructions indicate but it’s still not flipping. Now I learn I can not buy a new lithium battery for it. After 1 month of use…terrible investment!
NO REPAIR PARTS SOLD!
Feb 7, 2025
NO REPAIR PARTS SOLD! Customer service is only for those who buy new whole goods. Buyers should be made aware that ONE CANNOT PURCHASE ANY REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS FEEDER. I recently bought my 2nd Yankee Whipper model. Parts list associated with products is only for decoration. It is most disconcerting to discover that the statements as to “commitment to excellence in customer service” are just BS!
GREAT, BUT....

GREAT! Built very solid. But... battery lasted only for a few years and then...battery was worthless( i did buy an extra battery adn so always had one charging) but now neither recharge... so if you don't mind paying for a new battery for almost 100 dollars every few years- go for it.. It is entertaining... But I cant justify indulging in such expensive replacement batteries... Plus the Squirrels got even more clever when it was working. For after a few rounds spinning the critter off, it spilled a lot of seed.. sooooo, they would go for a ride and then jump off to eat all the fallen seed.. Smart critters they be... I still use it with dead battery but had to apply some serious roadblocks for squirrels... Alas, they are winning.

Definitely NOT Squirrel Proof
Jan 6, 2025
Probably the best design on the market, I greatly appreciate the seed capacity, yet definitely NOT SQUIRREL PROOF, and very expensive for something falsely advertised as such. First breach came as they chewed the lid enough to realize that it could be nudged upwards, giving squirrels full access to the seed from the top (solved this problem by flattening a hose clamp and sliding it over the hanging bracket, crude, yet effective). As others have experienced, persistent squirrels (which are the majority) will hang onto the perch as it spins, sometimes wearing down the battery, or sometimes until the base literally detaches and falls to the ground, in both instances, yielding the "flipper" no longer effective. Oh, and I've had to buy two new batteries over about a 6+ yr period. Bottom line, decent feeder yet very pricey, and while the design could be updated and refined to maybe address these known problems, this current iteration is not squirrel proof.

Between my parents and myself, we have owned five of the Yankee Flipper feeders. They work great for the first few years, then the batteries start failing to hold a charge, then they're the answer to a squirrel's dream. Replacement battery packs are expensive, and are usually out of stock, so you're out of luck.
Also had one unit where the switch corroded and broke- the switch is not available separately- another battery pack is needed.

I bought the Yankee Flipper probably 15 years ago and replaced the charger a couple years ago. It's truly a joy to see the squirrels navigate. I deliberately let the charger run low so the squirrels think they're safe. When it's charged, I smile all day. Fondly call it my "Twirl a Squirrel"!
