Love the feeder; however, now that Perky Pet owns Droll Yankee they no longer supply parts. I have been looking for the springs that control the Whipper perches to no avail. Perky Pet's answer was buy a new feeder, a $ 100+ feeder. Will go out of my way to not purchase any Perky Pet products. Feeders have been great. Perky Pet not so much.

I’ve loved our Yankee Whipper feeders—we have two of them—and for the most part, they’ve worked as intended. That said, a few of our local squirrels appear to have earned advanced degrees in problem-solving. We’ve gone to great lengths to set these up properly: both feeders are mounted in the middle of our yard on a 10-foot pole with a T-bar, and I even need an extender pole just to hang them after refilling with seed. In other words, these feeders are not easily accessible. And yet—after many determined attempts—our squirrels have somehow cracked the code and are helping themselves like seasoned professionals. It’s honestly impressive and mildly infuriating at the same time. The feeders are well-made and thoughtfully designed, but if you live in an area with particularly clever (or stubborn) squirrels, be prepared for them to figure things out eventually. I’ve included a few photos of our squirrels enjoying both their victory and their dinner.

Great feeder with one drawer back,the springs for the perches. Where can I get replacements since Yankee is no longer in business.

The one thing I discovered is that when the squarely get on the throw bar on a particular side it will activate the spin, but on the opposite side it won’t. The activator switch is worn or missing a nodule on bottom? So what I did is I zip tied around it and I’ll post a review how it works when I set it back up.

I absolutely love my Droll Yankee Whipper feeder! I have had it many years, and it is still my favorite feeder. Of course, after years of being outdoors and squirrel abuse, you expect an issue to come. One of my perches broke from squirrels hanging on it. I had heard that Droll Yankee had sold to Perky Pet and I said to myself so much for getting it fixed now. I was completely mistaken! Perky Pet is a great company that stood behind the lifetime warranty of Droll Yankee!! They were super helpful in helping me get a replacement, and the service was awesome. Yankee Whipper doesn’t keep out squirrel. I installed 16” holding rod to keep it away from the tree. Didn’t help. Do not buy.

When it works it's great. but the springs break and warranty is non-existent. I have generic blackbirds, not even the weight of squirrels - and their weight causes the springs to break and render the individual perches useless as they just hand down.

My husband and daughter gifted me with the Droll Yankee Flipper & the Dipper about 15 years ago for Mothers Day. My husband passed in 2019 and my daughter is now grown. I still have both feeders & I love them. However the perches on the dipper started breaking off. I found the updated version ofthe dipper, but still have the old version, missing perches. Hoping some day to find another and replace the bottom half. I love these feeders. The birds love these feeders. I highly recommend them.

The feeder is okay, but the springs break. Lots of people about that, so it's a known problem. The company said over a year ago they were going to do something about it. No problem, it's under warranty. Fill out the "contact us" page on the website, which gets you an email which says "We no longer provide customer support or service via email" and points you to their phone number (800-352-9164). Call the phone number, and it says for warranty service, fill out the form at perkypet.com/warrantyclaim. There's no form, it just redirects you to the "contact us" page.

The clean bird food pours out when the birds eat just a little. I would not recommend this for anyone who wants to use shelled/clean bird food. It works better for sunflower seeds but you end up with a mess growing under it in the garden.
