Perky-Pet® Our Best Glass Hummingbird Feeder

I bought 2 of these and am very disappointed. They leak profusely so 30 oz of nectar disappears in a few hours. I have 7 feeders as we are a top migration throughfare and my other 5 work do not leak like these. The "bee guard" buttons are loose and do not stay on, a very light wind knocks all the nectar out (lots of wind as we are on the coast) . The puddle of nectar under the feeder became an ant colony in less then a day. The company does not offer replacement parts so I tried a universal replacement flowers and they too are extremely loose. It appears the holes for the flower buttons are much larger then standard and a larger flower can't be found.

I received one of these from a friend as a birthday present and used it in honor of another friend who loved hummingbirds and had recently died of stage 4 colon cancer. The second summer of use (summer 2025) the plastic top where the hook goes wore through and no longer can be used to hang the feeder. I see many others are having the same issue. We all would love a replacement part, but you do not have them available. It's a shame that such a nice feeder only lasts for 1 1/w summers of use - just beyond the warranty time frame. I would recommend buying a different type of feeder which does not rely on a narrow piece of plastic for hanging.

Great product, but no replacement parts. Not purchasing again. I have 3 glass tops and 1 base now as 2 of the bases broken or keep vapor locking. Not the best product for me anymore. Not trying to be mean, but replacement parts might be a good seller to keep this business.

Love this feeder. I now have 3 glass tops and 2 of the plastic bottoms have broken. Can I please order just the 2 piece bottom? Cannot find it anywhere.

I love this feeder as much as the hummingbirds do! It is easy to clean, even easier to fill. I have other feeders, but not anymore. I have two of these and I will never buy any other feeder.

I have two of these .. they are very big and hold lots and lots of homemade nectar .. I usually use them in March and April and then again in October and November .. they're easy to take apart clean and put back together

I've used these feeders for many years and they are the best for our needs, though they have some flaws. We have 12 and keep at least 6 feeders out at a time. We go through up to a gallon or more of sugar water a day (!) at the peak of summer feeding. I have never had problems with this version of feeder leaking, unless I don't fully tighten it on. And I've never had any problems with sugar water not flowing into the bottom, as some reviewers have mentioned. These large capacity feeders are easier to keep clean than older versions. The wider mouth and the two piece bottom that comes apart really help in keeping them sanitary. But don't use the cleaning brush they sell. It's too short, feeble, and the foam segments fall out in the first few uses. I make my own brush with a large stout sponge and the sturdy long metal handle from a fly swatter. The ant moat is too shallow for our dry climate and needs to be refilled several times a day. I wish it was deeper. I make my own large ant moats from milk jugs or plastic pop bottles. The plastic perches are weak and break easily, however the birds will still use the perches if one end of the segment remains attached. They will also hover to feed if the perch is completely gone. Perky Pets does not sell replacement parts, which is a huge drawback. I don't understand why they can't get the manufacturer to sell parts separately. The feeding ports are too high for some small birds, like our calliope hummingbirds, to sit on ther perch and feed. Also, six ports is too few for the number of birds we feed. So I drill 12 holes, two holes between each port and the next. I drill them slightly lower than the existing ports. All the birds greatly prefer to use these lower holes without the flower bee guards. With the extra holes, we sometimes have up to 10-12 hummers feeding together on one feeder. I highly recommend these feeders if you have lots of hummingbirds. If you only have a few, you might want to try smaller feeders. Using a large feeder when a smaller one will do may tempt you not to clean it often enough.

RIDGID PERCHES ARE PREFERABLE. THE POSITION OF THE PORT IS TOO HIGH FOR MOST HUMMERS TO REACH FROM THE PERCH.

I've had many Perky Pet hummer feeders over the years. I love the design of this feeder, the large capacity and ease in cleaning. However, it appears they are now using an inferior grade of plastic as it fades quickly and the top loop, from which it hangs, is showing unusual wear and tear to the point I'm afraid it will fail completely and fall. I would like to be able to buy replacement parts, but that doesn't appear to be an option. So I had to downgrade my rating simply because of the quality and lack of durability of the plastic parts in this feeder.

I have had the new feeders for a couple of years. I do like the way they come apart and make it easy to clean. BUT I am using the design of the old flowers by cutting the center part of the flower out. I watched them struggle with the design of the new flowers and if I could talk like a hummer, I would say no to the newer flowers. ALSO WE NEED THE OLD CAP STYLE. It stays on much better and easy to get on and off. I wonder if it might be the grade of the plastic used. I would rather spend a few more bucks to have an improved style like the old one. I really love perky pet but it now needs improvement. Sorry for the bad rating, just wanted to be honest.
