Reviews for Perky-Pet® Lavender Field Top Fill Hummingbird Feeder

I love these feeders and have no idea why the reviews are so negative. I bought one in 2022 and two more in early 2023. Now I am buying two more. Here's what I like: It is very easy to clean. I have no problem seeing mold on the black bottom by the way. It's very easy to fill. The "flower" design keeps ants and bees out. Bee stings, I've read, could be the death of a small bird so Im glad the bees can't get in the "flowers." I watched a yellow jacket try and try to drink nector out of the feeder yesterday. It gave up and went off to the flower bed. I have spillage issues with all the glass topped feeders I've had but I don't notice that problem with these feeders. Perhaps in heavy winds, they do leak but at least they don't go flying across the lawn. It's true there's no perch as is the case with the flowers the hummingbirds feed from. Most of the birds that feed at my feeders don't have much time to perch because there is a male ruby throated monster that drives them away and he sits on top of the hooks or branches where the feeder hangs. Maybe in a few years I won't like these feeders. Maybe they will be smashed to the ground and break when a bear comes through but for now, Im much happier with these than other feeders.

This feeder was great for a while. Now I find that suddenly the nectar doesn't seem to drain down into the bottom. I have tried cleaning it thoroughly and no improvement. Not sure why. The hummers loved it when it was working. As a side observation, the bottom parts should not be black - you can't see if there is any mold growing that requires a more thorough cleaning.

Looks Great,But why does it rust. I'm not trying to Kill the birds. How do i get a replacement bottoms.?? Paid a lot of money for it

You must be patient while filling this feeder. There is a small gasket with a hole in it when you pull it apart. You must fill the feeder up slowly, allowing the liquid to drain down through the little hole. If you fill it to fast, it doesn't allow it to drain through to the bottom section and it will come out through the flowers. Put a small amount of syrup in and let it sit for awhile to give it a chance to settle, then you can add a little more if you want. Don't fill it all the way, because if the birds don't eat it all it will spoil in the heat, a quarter will suffice. Hope this helps and happy birding!

I bought the expensive diamond glass feeder in a beautiful purple color, top fill and tag claims it won’t leak. It leaked within seconds of my hanging it up and within 20 minutes I’d probably lost at least a cup of expensive hummingbird food onto the patio floor. I took it down and it goes back to the store (Ace Hardware) tomorrow. I should’ve read the reviews first here because it looks like everyone says the same thing. It’s a terrible product. My cheap plastic one that I used to have worked so much better. I gave it one star because it was very pretty.

My biggest complaint about this beautiful feeder is the lack of perches. I notice some of the glass feeders have perches, and they should be available as an accessory. I purchased a plastic window feeder just to take the perches off and use them on this feeder. Why are there no perches available????

I bought this feeder cause it was going to be so easy to clean and fill up. Unfortunately everytime I fill it up it leaks out of the ports. I just filled it tonight went and watered my flowers and nectar was dripping out feeder was just about empty again.

I love the color and ease of filling this hummingbird feeder. However, the slightest tilt causes the syrup to run right out of the ports. I think a solid slightly elevated port would solve the problem.

This feeder does not hold 16 oz. of liquid. I poured nectar about half way up, and it all settled into the base. The only nectar remaining in the feeder was in the base. When I added more, it leaked out of the ports. This is a faulty design. This is my second try with these feeders, and I have had no luck.

I bought one of these. Plus side - it is much easier to clean. Minus side - my Birds still prefer the glass Perky Pet feeders old style. Somewhat disappointed.
