We have two of your Perky-Pet® Oriole Jelly Bird Feeders. The first one that we purchased has a metal chain arrangement but the second one has a cheap plastic chain that has broken. The plastic chain breaks easily.

At first, I loved this feeder. Easy to use and the orioles loved it. They would go through a whole jar of jelly in about a week. However, after about a month the plastic chain broke. Why on earth would the chain be made of plastic?! The previous feeder had a metal chain which lasted more like 4 seasons.

The birds and I love the feeder ! The only draw back is the holes in the tray. The juice runs right out. I put duck tape over them and it seems to work for now. Thanks.

The birds love this feeder but the jelly is too thick to dispense on it's own. So unless you turn the paddle all the time the birds can't get to the jelly. Solution?

The orioles have been eating out of it all weekend. I had 5 at one time.

Not good in the wind. Top heavy.

We bought this oriole feeder a few days ago so it would hold more jelly than our other feeder when we went on vacation. I put it out yesterday and we had some wind last night. This wind caused the feeder to flip over as it was top heavy from the jelly jar. I would not recommend this feeder if you are going to put it where it could be somewhat windy.

Great while it lasted

We loved it while it lasted - the Squirrels destroyed this and I used the glass jelly jars vs. the plastic one it came with. My suggestion for this feeder would be to make the base in metal similar to your plastic design. The grape jelly sure attracts these critters and they were relentless, even with it on our deck where there is a lot of human and dog traffic. The base is mostly useless now. The squirrels chewed through the jelly openings and there isn't enough sidewall to hold a jar. We did have this hung in a space we thought would be challenging for the squirrels, but they figured it out. It's disappointing as I was excited to get it after a backorder last Summer. The orioles did love it and would announce their arrival almost every time and chatter in between bites. They even brought their young over to teach them how to use it. Very cute.

Tips easy when squirrels eat. The little orange chains are weak.

I really like this feeder!

I really like this feeder! I did find that using the plastic jar provided is better than using the same size glass gar (glass is much heavier and tilts the feeder). The only thing I don't like is the dripping holes as they attract ants to the ground. I have so many bird that I have to refill often. I've recommended this feeder to others.
