i have an old one ...

i have an old one that works so i ordered two more, unfortunately the company makes them in China now. they are not the same. looks the same, designed the same but the chinese cheapened the manufacturing. lighter gauge wire hold downs, even the hooks. but the worst part is the mesh that holds the seed. it is lighter gauge too i think but the problem is the weave, its larger openings so all the trash birds come and empty the seed in no time. its called a Cardinal feeder, yes my old one is but the new ones should be called sparrow feeder. that's what you get. sparrows are very aggressive too. i will toss them in the recycling. guess a couple dollars more profit was all this company thinks about. im so disappointed.
A Great Bird Feeder.

This is s great feeder. The birds have little problem getting the seed. A little tricky to get the seed in, but I must say its an ingenious and simple design. I highly recommend this.
Love this feeder!

Perfect Backyard Feeder

I purchased this feeder to replace a plastic feeder. The plastic feeder's perch had been chewed up by squirrels. The birds instantly adapted to this feeder. I solely use black oil sunflower seeds. The mesh allows the perching birds to peck for the food and smaller birds a place to cling. The large capacity is great and only needs to be filled twice a week. This zinc-plated metal feeder is built to last. I foresee giving it a coat of krylon spray paint at the first sign of rust.
Wouldn't buy again

Unfortunately the birds do not like it. It appears the large round top keeps them away.

We're sorry to hear your local birds aren't coming to this feeder! It is designed for smaller species, and birds are creatures of habit, it may take some time for them to try a new feeder. Please feel free to give us a call at 855-737-5973 for tips on how to attract more birds to your yard. We're happy to help! - Kathryn
Not a favorite of birds

I have one of these, and I like the style of this feeder. I fill it with black oil sunflower seeds as I do all my feeders. However, after filling my other feeders several times, this one remains mostly full. For some reason the birds are having a difficult time with this one. I've seen many birds land there, then go to a different feeder. Not sure what the problem is. Lazy birds? I also have woodpeckers who haven't even tried it. I've taken it down since no one seems to like it, and put up another.
Great feeder

Great feeder, squirrels can get the seeds but one at a time so there is no waste. I have one fox squirrel that gets one and eats it every 20 seconds.
Blue jays down to chickadees love this feeder.

I bought 2 of these same feeders about 18 years ago from a local store. They have gone through being manipulated by bears, blown off the hanger, chewed on by squirrels, etc. Birds of all kinds use the feeder. So of course I went back to Perky-Pet to replace them.
Highly recommend

I love my new feeder! I also bought the pole which attaches to my deck railing. The red color matches my red deck and the birds fly in to snack all day. With a rim that goes around the feeder, several birds can perch at the same time. Unfortunately the squirrels have figured out how to eat from the feeder too (even after greasing the pole). But when the squirrel wraps around the feeder to gorge itself, it does help to move the seeds in the center so they become accessible for the birds. We have had several big wind storms in the past few weeks, and the feeder has held up.
