Perky-Pet® Favored Pinch-Waist Glass Hummingbird Feeder

I bought three of these because hummingbirds seem to love this feeder over any of the other ones. As soon as it is hanging they are swarming it. It has one flaw. The nectar leaks out of the bee guards! What a waste. It attracts yellow jackets and we’ve never had this problem with any other feeder. I am returning to Lowe’s and won’t be buying this type again.

This is my all-time favorite feeder as for as attracting hummingbirds. They seem to be getting cheaper because the feeder that still has the flower trumpet is hard to find. I have both types, with and without, but the hummingbirds go to the trumpet flower feeder twice as much as the feeder without the trumpet flower. The ant mote is useless because of the dips in the side. It holds very little water. You should make the rim of the ant mote cup the same height all the way around to hold more water. I rated this feeder 4 stars because I have to use a separate ant mote because this one doesn't hold hardly any water. Other than that, this is the best hummingbird feeder by far. Keep the trumpet flowers and make the jar about a 16oz.

I love this 16 oz feeder I’ve been purchasing it for years. Feeding hummingbirds takes time and patience and once of the requirements for having safe and healthy hummingbirds is being able to clean every orfice of the feeder. This feeder provides quickly disassembly and reassembly to use bottle brushes throughout with thorough rinsing. These are not dishwasher safe however (the plastic parts) and the heat will weaken the plastic in about one season. Just buy a large stainless steel part and mix winegar with water and and allow the plastic parts and re glass to soak, give a thorough scrubbing and voila. I should own stock in Perky pet given all the business I’ve given them. Never have I found this size of a feeder that does not leak, works well and cleans easily.

I have used these small glass feeders in the past, which is why I just purchased two new ones. Oh, my gosh! What a mess! The nectar is leaking all over my porch and the ants are in heaven. I have taken them down, disconnected everything, checked to be sure all connections are tight, filled again, hung them (again) and a puddle of nectar underneath pretty quickly. I called Customer Service and they recommended changing the bee-guards, which they would send. That does not look like an easy fix as I broke one while talking to the rep...as he explained how to do it. I am so disappointed! Love the size and glass bottle of this small one, but will try Best Products for a replacement model the same size. Returning to Walmart.

I have 6 of these, and they work for a while. But there's a major problem: the yellow bee guards break after cleaning them a few times. You have to clean them because mold builds on them, and the mod is introduced from the hummingbird's mouths. So, I mainly use these in the winter without bee guards installed. The cost of replacement guards is usurious. The nectar is kept at a level that will almost spill out in this feeder, which people usually see as a negative. However, this is a positive trait during the winter because that lets non-hummingbirds drink from the feeder as well (with the bee guard removed). They can use the sugar just as much as the hummers and it is super important as winter supplemental feeding. I see a lot of people complain about the top loop failing. I have some that are over 10 years and the top piece is fading and likely getting brittle... but I never had this problem. I always put feeders under baffles to protect them and the drinking birds from the elements. I do not recommend because many other feeder designs exist that are easier to clean and don't leave the sugary mess that these feeders leave below. But this model is the one that every store carries, it is probably the most commonly owned feeder out there, so it's also usually the one most people start with.

Terrible design. The reservoir is so shallow that if the wind blows the feeder the nectar starts dripping out of the feeding ports. Such a waste of nectar. Will not, nor would I recommend ever purchasing this feeder.

I have been feeding hummingbirds for 50 years and have tried almost all the different feeders. The colored ones because they are pretty for me to look at, the flat ones, the round ones, skinny ones and the fat ones. This one in my mind is the best. Yes, it will spill nectur when it is not hanging straight, but my "hummers" always go to this one over the others and to me that is what counts. My only dislike is that the hole on the cap for hanging the feeder often gives way and the feeder falls. I believe this to be a flaw in the manufacturing of the cap, the hole for the hook is a weak spot due to the manufacturing process. Regardless, I won't buy any other feeder, I want my "hummer" to keep coming back ... and they do.

I currently have 6 new ones hanging, because the other 10 old ones suffered the same fate...THEY ALL FAIL AT THE LOOP ON THE RED SCREW IN TOP...EVERYONE OF THRM! Either that's part of your marketing plan or your engineers are idiots! How hard can it be to beef up the loop?! They've been exactly the same except for the rest bar which did change. It certainly makes me skeptical about the quality of your other products!

Worst humming bird feeder ever after you fill it and turn it over to mount it all of the liquid runs right out of the artificial flowers in a matter of a couple of minutes. I wasted my money on this feeder. It's a piece of junk.

It was a great feeder while it lasted. But the top broke, and apparently no replacement part is offered. So now I have to throw the rest away. I know it isn't an expensive feeder, but I hate throwing the glass jar and base away when all I need is a replacement top.
