It actually only deserves 1/2 a star - great idea, horrible and faulty design. It does NOTHING but leak. I've positioned it several different ways, and currently it's in one of my hanging pots....and leaks and leaks and leaks......I should just bring it in to salvage the small amount of juice left but I've wasted enough time on this product. So badly wanted this to work - should've read the reviews first. Very disappointed.

Wish all companies would STOP using YELLOW as the color for bee guards. It's one of the colors that hornets are attracted to and hornets-large and small- like my hummer feeders. I've started to color over the bee guards with red nail polish. After on and off of the bee guard it becomes a little loose so I wrap small piece of tape around the 'male' part. Really like this small feeder though. It's easy to change the liquid so it doesn't spoil without wasting much when it's real hot out or there aren't many hummers.
OK, yes...it leaks. But that's an easy fix. Cut out a square of a plastic sandwich bag and put it between the base and the body before screwing it on. Makes a very simple and effective gasket. I usually snap the top of the bee guard off and only put it back on if bees become a problem. I keep the base of the bee guard on to give the birds a yellow target. And I just use a twist tie to hang it on a shepherds hook.
This thing is the least expensive feeder out there. And it holds 4 Oz of water. That's perfect for my situation. I only ever get one or two birds each summer. It lasts long enough that by the time it's drained down, it was time to clean it out anyway, without wasting any. And speaking of cleaning...this model is ridiculously easy to keep clean. Jam a wet soapy paper towel in there, give it a few turns. Do the same for the base. The port is a bit tougher but it's not too bad. I've never tried to run it thru the dish washer. For my needs, this one is just the thing.

Solved the leaking problem! It leaked immediately after hanging, but I was curious as to why. Filled it with clear water and set it on a counter on top of a paper towel. Noticed that the leak was coming from the screw cap. Two or so wraps of 1/2 inch wide plumbers tape around the threaded end of the container formed a watertight seal. So far so good. Might have to replace the tape after cleaning and before refilling, but we'll see. It's an easy fix even if I have to do it often.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing. The feeder leaks. Does not work. Should not be sold. Waste of money.

So excited to have found this feeder. We had been looking for a feeder that would fit in the flower box. Sadly this leaks and does not hold the nectar.

Bought 1st Perky-Pet planter box feeder because did not have enough hummers to empty large feeders before the syrup soured/ grew cloudy. Easy to clean, & to move to different areas.
Bought a 2nd for my daughter recently, but the bee guard was broken when she removed the packaging.
Am going to order 2 more, would order extra bee guards if I could find some that would fit this model, but can’t seem to.
