Appearance of the Altamira Oriole

The Altamira Oriole is the largest Oriole found within the United States. Its singing has been described as “loud and musical…reminiscent of an inexperienced whistler”
The Altamira Oriole is bright orange and black with a long tail, black bib and back. It has orange shoulders, a white wingbar and a white spot on black wings. The bill of the Altamira Oriole is thick and nearly all dark with black in front of its eyes.
There is no difference visually between the male Altamira Oriole and the female Altamira Oriole.

The Altamira Oriole resides in southern Texas and Mexico south to Nicaragua.
