How It Works
Ants are attracted to the sweet-tasting nectar inside your feeders. As ants forage for nectar and make their way down the hanging hook to the feeder, they enter the AntGuard. Inside is a disc containing a powerful ant repellent, permethrin, which drives them away. The active ingredient has been proven safe around birds, pets, and people when used as directed. Like the naturally derived pyrethrin, which originates from chrysanthemums and was the inspiration for this substance, it should be kept away from ponds, streams or other bodies of water due to aquatic organism risk.
Fast Acting and Long Lasting
AntGuard® begins working immediately to drive away sweet-eating ants. In optimal conditions, all ant activity should stop within 24 hours. The permethrin disc is encased in a durable plastic dome, keeping it inaccessible to feeding birds, while also protecting it from rain so it lasts longer. Under normal conditions, AntGuard® will provide a full season of ant control.
Easy to Mount
For your convenience, the Perky-Pet® AntGuard® easily mounts in-line with hanging hummingbird feeders and oriole feeder. To install AntGuard®, extend the lower baffle of the dome. Then attach AntGuard® below your hanging hook and above your hummingbird feeder. Note, you should not hang it on feeders weighing more than 10 lb.

I bought one last season and it worked so well keeping the ants out, I bought another one. I put them both up this spring and with a heavy wind and full feeders they broke and the feeders ended up on the ground. They seemed sturdy, but the plastic just didn’t hold up. Wasted $20. : (
This is the best thing since sliced bread! It actually works!! My 1st one lasted 2 seasons. Got it at walmart. Very very affordable. It would have probably lasted another season but I had a new one I bought for last year but never had to use cause the 1st one STILL worked! This is an amazing product! I highly recommend this.
Great just got it today I’ll see how it works had to get a second hummingbird feeder because my hummingbirds are getting to be aggressive one hummingbird kicked a hummingbird off my feeder I feel bad for the hummingbird so I went and got a new feeder installed it today I’ll see how it goes will bye it again so finally got my second feeder installed my other hummingbird feeder is a perky pet feeder but I see the reviews are good so I’ll give it a try
I got it today for my second hummingbird Feeder I had to put up another hummingbird feeder today my humming my hummers are getting aggressive one pushed a hummer of my feeder so put the new feeder up
I love these Perky-Pet Antguards. They are better than anything I have tried. Water in a regular mote splashes into feeder, which dilutes the hummingbird food. These seem to last a couple years. I would like to just replace the disk instead of replacing the whole plastic piece. I did not find where just the disk are sold.
Why aren't the directions posted on this site in English? I can't read Spanish

I bought 2 ant guards this year from 2 different stores. In both cases the lower baffle was in the lowered “open” position. Does this mean that the repellent will be somewhat exhausted due to exposure to air while it sat on the store shelf? I’ve used your ant guards in the past and the baffle has always been firmly positioned in the closed position.u

We have used the perky pet ant guard for over 5 years and have recommended it to our friends however this year it has not worked. Could you speculate as to why this might be?

It may be due to expired active ingredients, extreme weather, or ants finding a bypass route. Replacing the AntGuard is recommended yearly for best results.
