Review RateHow do you clean the reservoir?
I like it except there seems to be a reservoir inside the base with 4 compartments that I cannot seem to get apart to clean. Is it supposed to come apart ?Response From Perky-Pet®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for providing this feedback! All the parts in the base are removable for cleaning purposes. Please click here for instructions on how to assemble and disassemble the feeder.
We hope this information was helpful! Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any questions or for additional assistance.
I've used 2 PP feeders for the 3rd year. Never had leaking issues other than trying to over-tighten the base. I'd love to know if there are replacement red flowers available for this style? Current 1's are deteriorating at a rapid rate. Thanks!
Review RateSometimes you don't even get what you pay for.
I purchased this and followed the scant instructions on the cardboard attached to it. I filled it and was looking for cordage so I could hang if from my deck. I came back and the syrup had leaked out all over the counter top. (Note to Self–"Leave it in the sink after filling it and watch it like a hawk.") I faffed about with it a bit and put it back together. It still leaks at a slow drip. I have a bucket on my deck to catch it but it attracts ants and wasps etc. It's either a poor design or it needs to ship with more instruction on how the base works. I got it a WallyWart so will take it back ASAP and buy or make a good one.Response From Perky-Pet®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate the feedback about this feeder and the instructions, and apologize for this experience.
The base of this feeder includes a floating section that should rise as the nectar flows down from the bottle, then will close it off when the base is full. We encourage customers to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for assistance with any product. Our feeders are covered by a 30 day return policy and a one year replacement warranty.
Review RateNO more bugs in the feederThis is a great feeder that holds just the right amount of juice - not too much or too little AND keeps the pesky wasps away as they don't spend time on what they can't get to. The hummingbirds love it and seemed happy to drink from it starting day 1.
DO pay attention assembling the base parts! It has a great float valve design but the day you are sloppy and/or lazy in cleaning or assembly will be the day you leave it on the kitchen counter and turn your back on it for an extra minute. It can and will leak out on you - but now "I" know and it will never happen to me.......again........
Review RateSome issuesPurchased 3 days ago. Leaks around seam where top and base meet if tilted.
Also nectar doesn't flow out of some flower holes but will after toothpick inserted.
Apparently float inside governing flow gets stuck.
PP contacted and they are sending another.Response From Perky-Pet®Tara : Consumer Relations RepresentativeThank you for taking the time to share this feedback. These concerns have been passed along to our Product Managers. We are happy that we were able to assist with a replacement feeder.

Review RateSevere LeakingLiquid flow out of either the bottom or straight out the flowers. Very disappointing! And, now I no longer have my sales receipt, so I can't return it. Review Ratevacuum seal typethe one that requires a vacuum is difficult. I have to really crank on it to get a seal.
It will drain out if I don't. I don't think this is user friendly.
Review RateGreat feeder but a small glitchIntriguing that reviews were so disparate for the same feeder....."1"s and "5"s...what gives? I believe that the plastic buoyancy disk and the shaft it goes up and down on can stick in some feeders. When the disk doesnt stick, the feeder mechanism works beautifully. If the disk sticks either in the high or low position, it can either fail to feel the feeding bowl or overfill/spill until the upper reservoir drains out. PP should adjust the dimensions of the plastic parts to allow the buoyancy disk to move a little more freely along the shaft. For owners, try scraping out the inside of the shaft with a knife to provide a little more room to operate......thats what I did, and it is now fully operational. Other than that a beautifully designed feeder......very happy with it.
Review RateAmazon ReviewWhat I really like about this Perky Hummingbird feeder is that you fill it from the top down and that it has an ant moat. It'll get you some Hummingbirds shortly after setting it up too. It's easily set up and easily cleaned over and over again. I see nothing not to like.
Review RateAmazon ReviewI like the no-nonsense design this feeder has to make it easier to clean. No weird curves. Just with hand and sponge I can reach to the bottom of the bottle, where it's narrowest, with no problem.Taking apart and putting together is simple. Unscrew the bottle. For the base, put your fingers on opposite sides of the top half. Give a small squeeze in, and you should be able to pull the two halves apart. The rest of the components attached to the bottom half are simply tug up and out. Once cleaned, everything snaps back together.Unfortunately, it does leak from the base when it gets a bit tilted.

A: No worries, with this top fill feeder - it has a built in ant moat right in the lid of the feeder. After filling your feeder and hanging, simply pour a small amount of water in the top of the lid.
Q: What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A: Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards, such as the Perky-Pet® model #203CP or ant guards, Perky-Pet® model #242.
Q: How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A: Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet® cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q: What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A. Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.
