Five Stars “I have five different feeders out and this is their favorite! They drain this feeder first and only use the others when chased off this one. As of mid-July we are seeing about ten hummers....in a month there will be more than we can count. I'm going back to buy a couple more of these. Best of all, they are easy to clean and fill up.” (Review from Konnie) Read More Reviews »

This model is not an improvement By Sherry

I have 5 of the previous version of this feeder (203cp), which our hummingbirds seem to love. Because we have a lot of hummingbirds (15-20), I decided to add 2 more feeders. Unfortunately, I was unable to find model 203cp, so I bought 2 of this newer version. The only good thing about them is that they are easy to fill and clean. When you flip them over to hang, a lot of the nectar comes out. The worst part is that they leak while hanging -- a lot. I already had to refill my feeders twice a day. I do not want to waste money on nectar to feed the ants. Please bring back the old version. There are brushes and little mops that can be used to clean them.

leaky ant attractant By Pat

a terrible item. I bought one a few years ago and it dripped puddles of sugar water attracting ants. this year I still needed to replace my old feeder so I bought another one and it did the same thing attracting ants.

Response From Perky-Pet®
Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Pat,

We apologize for this experience and would like the opportunity to learn more.

To prevent leaking, we recommend turning the feeder upright quickly to create a vacuum.  Placing the feeder in an area with little to no wind and out of direct sunlight will help prevent leaking as well.

Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance. This feeder is covered by a one year replacement warranty.

awful feeder By lainey

leaks leaks leaks attracts more ants than birds

Response From Perky-Pet®
Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

We apologize for this experience and would like the opportunity to learn more.

The feeder should not leak after being turned upright quickly to create a vacuum. Hummingbirds often prefer to feed in shaded, sheltered environments.  Placing the feeders in a shaded area with little to no wind will make the hummingbirds happy, as well as help prevent leaking.

Please give our Consumer Relations Team a call at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any additional questions.

Leaky mess By Connie

I have been using your products for most of my life. These are horrible, I bought a second one, thinking maybe I had a bad one. I so wish I had my old feeders. Hard to clean and all! I have one left, I will do my best to find another brand that doesn't leak. Waste of my time and money, as I am far from any stores to replace them! Oh, the birds attack the one old feeder I have. They won't go to these except when there's too many birds on the old one!

Hummingbirds not feeding with new style feeder By Rita

We've used your product for years but in 2015 we bought a new one. For some reason, the hummingbirds would drink from it. We replaced in 2016 & had some activity but we just put it back out & once again a problem. We initially saw 2 hummers try to drink but they didn't & flew off & since, no birds at all. There must be a design problem the last 2 years?

New designs have multiple problems By Steve

I have used Perky Pet feeders for at least 27 years, and finally broke down and ordered the newer design feeders to replace all of my old, many-times -rebuilt and part-replaced originals. I liked some of the new design features, but it's apparent the designers did not account for why the old designs attracted birds better than any other designs. For instance: small 4 flower feeder leaks like a sieve, as it lacks the internal bulkhead/air lock that the first design had. Flower (bee) guards are too tall for the birds to easily access the tubes. The low angle/position of the perches and the taller (raised center) bee guard flowers on the larger feeders preclude the bird's ability to perch and feed; they have to hover to access the food. I do like the concept of cleaning the feeders by disassembly, but the apparent difficulty of the birds reaching the water is driving my usual local birds away. Years past, I make as much as a half-gallon of food daily: so far this year I am dumping most of the water due to spoiling - the birds just can't seem to get to the food. Very disappointing - and thinking of resurrecting my old feeders until I can no longer use them.

very, very poorly designed. By Frank

This is worst hummingbird feeder that Perky-Pet has ever put on the market, along with the plastic version! An outright rip-off! When the wind blows even a little, the feeder sways and spills out it's contents to the ground. If you can't design something better than that, get out of the business! Just threw out my plastic version from last year. Taking the glass version back to Canadian Tire this weekend, after just purchasing it a week ago. Note: Even your expensive glass/brass/bronze ones do not hold their fluid! Hire an engineer or even a talented high school student!

Response From Perky-Pet®
Susan : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Frank,

We appreciate the time taken to share this feedback and apologize for this experience.

When the bottle is tightly secured to the base, this feeder should not leak.  However, if placed in a windy location, some nectar may leak out when tilted.  For best results, we recommend placing feeders in sheltered locations.  Hummingbirds prefer feeding in calm environments and this will also help prevent leaking.

Please keep in mind that our feeders are covered by a 30 day return policy as well as a one year warranty.  Our Consumer Relations Team can be reached at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) and is happy to provide additional assistance.

This model feeds Orioles - be sure to weigh it down prevent spills By Sedaray

I was going to buy this one again but it's out of stock - hope it isn't discontinued! I like the 'feeding pipes' design because i can take the beeguard off (I just spray bees with a quirt of water and they're gone) so the Orioles can drink. The designs with built-in hole covers are too small, the orioles gave up. PS a solution for wind and Orioles who hang on the sides and tip - just hang a flowerpot/basket underneath - use 3 or 4 nylon strings to attach from the hook to equidistant spots on the basket and I even have a plastic container of water with a half lid of jelly. Everybody's happy. When I got a good birdbath, I replaced the water with some rocks to weigh the basket down.

Terrible Leak By Cheri

I have bought Perky-Pet brand before with no problems. However, the Pinch Waist with the easy to clean base LEAKS. As many others have stated on this site. Previous models have had an inner gasket (if you will), this one with the wide mouth does not. Don't tell me to fill, tighten and not hang in a breeze (I'm over 50 and have been feeding the hummingbirds for years without any issues)! Never had this problem before. Very disappointed.

Q&A
Q.I need a replacement glass bottle for my feeder. I have a pinch waist Model #: 203CPBN glass feeder . Thank you
A.

This feeder is covered under a one year warranty. Replacement bottles are not available for this model feeder.

Q. I cannot get the flowers and bee guards off. Can you tell me how to take them off.
A.

The flower feeding ports with bee guards pop off and snap back on. Replacements can be found at the link below.  If the feeder has become sticky from the nectar, try soaking the base in warm water to loosen that nectar around the ports.

Q.Perky-Pet® Pinch-Waist Glass Hummingbird Feeder with Free Nectar ......... I have a dozen or more of this particular feeder. I bought all new ones because all of my old ones had begun to leak. I used the new dozen only one season, cleaned, and put them away. Upon taking them out and trying to use them the next season, they all leaked. What can I do? I'm on social security and I've got way too much money invested in these many, many feeders to have to try to purchase new ones or even to have to put out more money for new parts for the feeders that I have. Is there a solution for me? I truly hate that my hummers (and I have literally dozens of them come) have to suffer the loss of their feeding way station here because I can't use my feeders. Perky Pet --- please help me. Thank you.
A.

It is a good sign that they did not leak last season. This shows that the leaking may be prevented. We recommend that bases be removed and then re-tightened to the feeders, ensuring that parts are perfectly aligned and that they are being screwed on as securely as possible. Feel free to give us a call at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any questions.
