Mourning Doves are well known for their soft cooing song which can often be heard in the quiet of the early morning as well as throughout the day.
Both male and female Mourning Doves reach 9-13 inches in length, weighing between 3 - 6 ounces.
These doves have feathers and bodies of varying shades of gray and brown. Male Mourning Doves tend to have a little more coloring with a pinkish face and chest and a bluish region at the top of their heads.
