PERKY-PET® MIGRATORY BIRD GUIDE

birds

The annual fall and spring bird migrations can bring many new visitors to your feeders. This guide will help you ID the migratory and resident birds that visit your feeders while teaching you more about them. Each entry in the Migratory Bird Guide includes the following information:

Name & Scientific Name:

The bird is listed by its most common name and its scientific name. That information is followed by a photo to help you identify the bird.

North American Flyways:

There are four North American flyways that birds commonly use to migrate. The Pacific Flyway traces the Pacific Coast from South America to Alaska. The Central Flyway generally follows the Rocky Mountains. The Mississippi Flyway runs along that river and its tributaries. The Atlantic Flyway goes along the Eastern Seaboard. Most of the species include multiple flyways in their listings. These species have been recorded as using more than one of the North American Flyways.

Migration:

This listing explains, in broad terms, the regions where these birds spend their Summers and winters.

Seasons in U.S.:

If the bird species resides in the contiguous United States in the summer or winter, then those seasons will be listed here.

Seasons in Alaska and Canada:

If the bird resides in Alaska or Canada during the Summer or winter, then those seasons will be listed here.

Learn More:

Many of the birds listed here are part of the Perky-Pet® Bird Libraries. These articles feature an in-depth look at the birds and can help you know the best way to attract them to your yard and feeders.
