Perky-Pet® Window-Mount Hummingbird Feeder

This is a great company which stands behind their products. When I wrote saying that my new bird feeder had a broken part, they immediately sent me a new feeder. Great customer service. Before putting up a hummingbiird feeder I did not realize how many hummingbirds there were on the Cape. I get pleasure everyday watching them come to feed at my window, This is an inexpensive, easy way to feed and observe these little creatures. My grandchildren love it as well.

I have been using this product for many years but this new version is worthless. They changed several things. The suction cup nipple is the wrong size (too big), so the feeder doesn't fit onto the suction cup, rendering it unusable. It is impossible to get the body apart from the base -- it seems that they made the new base opening too small/tight for the upper clear section to fit properly into it. I could barely get it apart without breaking it in order to refill it; I had to have someone use pliers to get the base off the top and try not to break the prongs. I can't do it alone (unlike the last great version they had). The sticking up flower just get in the way of the birds drinking. Also the flower "tube extends deep into the base - almost all the way to the bottom of the base. They are impossible to pull out to clean so I don't know if I am getting the bottoms cleaned when I am digging around in there with a toothbrush. There are so many bad reviews for this I don't know why they keep making it. I didn't want a hanging one but I don't think I have a choice. It won't be this brand. Their customer service on problems is excellent but they don't fix the problem.

Best feeder I have found as it truly attracts the hummers, but it surely has its issues! I’ve found the solution to the suction cup not fitting the feeder is to drill out the hole on the feeder to enlarge it. I buy a dozen feeders at a time and drill them all. The plastic is delicate, the pieces get weak in the sun and break, if the feeder is in a windy area it won’t stay on the window glass, and one of my hummers had to be rescued from being stuck in the perch! But the feeders do attract hummers! I just buy enough to have spares and I save various parts to reconstitute new ones from the survivors. They are easy to clean. I put one on every ground floor window of the house and add more as the summer progresses and babies are hatched. I just approach the problem by acknowledging the feeders are going to break, keep a lot on hand to make it through the summer. Birdseye view of hummers is worth the hassle.

The hummingbirds love this style feeder. I have tried many others but they don't pay them much attention. For some odd reason they just love to fight over this particular brand/type of feeder. I've been using these since 2012 and have purchased numerous times through amazon and also found them locally at a chain hardware store. These are the best feeder to get if you want to see hummers up close at your windows. The major downside of this brand/feeder is that they don't last. I have been through years and years of these feeders and design changes. They have changed the design of the plastic prongs that hold the top to the base several times. Some for the better, and the current design for the worse. They just break too easily and the fit now is super tight so you have to be extra careful opening it up to not snap them off. To be fair the older designs also broke. I have a whole box of these that I have mixed and matched over the years to try to Frankenstein together another year of feeding out of the various models. They have also changed to a rubber insert for the feed hole with the most recent design. It is an improvement in that it is much easier to clean now since you can just pop each one out and then jam a toothbrush inside the base and clean it up without the obstruction of the feed tube. The tubes are slightly too long, but you can snip the end off with a sharp scissors. The landing rail for the birds has always been too thin and weak and that remains with the latest design. The latest design also has too small of a mounting hole to fit the included suction cup so you have to jam it on there and hope it stays. So far it has. I will continue to buy them because I am stupid and love to watch hummingbirds. I hope Perky Pet is working on a redesign. Please do something better with the plastic prongs that hold the bottom to the top. The years you had the single fat prong design lasted the longest.

I’m so upset! I’ve used this model for many, many years, have truly enjoyed them, I put up two! #1: the new suction cups are too big for the feeder, I used a razor blade to slice of bits until it fit. #2: the suction cups have failed on both of them, 1 is now broken :(, the other is salvageable, I think, I haven’t tried it again, I’m scare it will end up getting smashed too! I’m so sad! Do you have replacement cups that actually fit and stick securely to the window, help please?! Sincerely, Tammy

Suction cup does not fit feeder.

I have used this feeder for years but they all eventually fail at the red clips that hold the reservoir to the base. In most cases one clip tends to keep them together but eventually the last one breaks away and it's time to buy a new one. Doesn’t even make one summer.

I just received my order of the #217. Not my first rodeo with this model and you have somehow figured that the customer has got to continue to wrestle with the suction cups that have a post that is to big to get the feeder hung on it properly. Jerk a knot in someones sail and get this straitened out. And don't suggest to hang it on a nail or screw,,,it is a WINDOW MOUNT FEEDER. I do not recommend this model with oversized suction cup mount.

The newer ones somebody forgot to see if the suction cup fit the feeder. I used to buy these around 6-10 at a time and give them away but i don't anymore because you can't window mount they should say mount them to a post or outside. I still like them because i had superglued up old suction cups (otherwise after a short period of time they fall off.

I love the way the suction cup sticks to the window but I don’t like the prongs. Mine broke too and it’s frustrating when you pay money for a product and it doesn’t last.
