Favorite Amongst Birds, Durable and Easy to Clean

This is my favorite feeder, and I think I am going to buy a second one so I always have one clean at all times. It is high quality, keeps the seeds dry, and is very easy to clean. I've had it for over 2 years now and it's still going strong. The birds love it. I get finches, cardinals (if I attach the seed tray), woodpeckers, titmice, blue jays, chickadees and nuthatches. It has to be hung on a pole fitted with a squirrel/racoon guard because it is not designed to deter squirrels. With that in mind, and setting it up as described, it is very durable and versatile. It holds sunflower seeds, hulled sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, hulled peanuts, and seed blends.

The local birds loved this feeder. The size and shape of the tray avoided interfering with the birds’ tails when they used the lowest perches and the smaller birds ate readily from it. Unfortunately, the tray was the feeder’s downfall. A critter came along at night and managed to pull the bottom completely out of the feeder. I’m guessing the critter hung on the tray somehow and the little metal nubs holding the bottom in place weren’t long enough to hold. After the third attack, one of the nubs and the attached gray perch were bent out of alignment. The base no longer holds at all. I’ve attached the lovely tray to a DY Ring-Pull feeder for the time being. Don’t know if I’ll try another Clever Clean—removing the tray, of course.
Not Squirrel Proof

This is a good feeder if you live in a location without squirrels and don't mind jays enjoying the feed--easy to clean and to fill. But resistant to squirrel damage is not the same as squirrel proofs at all.

I've looked high and low for tube feeders that had a removable bottom to get all the wet seeds out after it rains. This one does the job!

I recently bought two feeders. They were a bit more expensive than other feeders, but I think they are worth it. Very easy to clean and fill. Made of quality material. The push button flip top makes filling a breeze. I like how the seed stays dry. I had some of those feeders with post down the center. They made the seeds wet. The design of these feeders does not allow the water to get into and penetrate the seed. Large enough to hold a lot of seed. The birds love it. Several can dine at the same time. Moving forward,
I am interested to learn what other great products Droll Yankee offers.
Easy to clean but not squirrel-proof

I love my new Droll Yankee feeder, which is generous, sturdy and easy to clean. Unfortunately, the tray at the base gives squirrels something to hold onto. My previous Droll Yankee feeder did not have the saucer (great!) but could not be opened for cleaning. Must I choose?
